And so… the fun never ends! The bullies are always good value, ya know. Why do I say that? We just recently received this message from an anonymous visitor about a recent dust-up between Ashleigh Paige and Nadege Richards:
There’s some new drama going on at Goodreads and I didn’t want you guys to miss it.
The whole thing is nicely summed up on Ashleigh’s blog.

This just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. We’ve been wanting to write a post on Ashleigh Paige for a long time as we find her to be the most annoying and whiny of all the bullies. You all remember Asheigh, right? The blog owner of what used to be The Screaming Nitpicker, but now The YA Kitten (The YA Kitten? *eye roll* Oh. My. God!) Okay, not going to go into the lameness of that. No time.
Continuing on…
So, what happened? Well apparently Ashleigh placed an anthology (yes, an anthology and an anthology that was written to help kids in need no less) on her “will not read due to author” bookshelf because of :
Do we think Brittany has a point? Yes, absolutely. Did Ashleigh? Well… we think everyone can guess that one their own.
Now, we move on to ten months later and Nadege Richards, one of the other authors in the anthology, reacts to Ashleigh’s bully wank:
Okay, hmm… *scratches chin* Alright… Ashleigh, did you ever stop to wonder why people keep getting mad at you? We know this is tough one for you, but if you concentrate, you can figure it out. Try hard. You can do it. We know you can. Even with your petty, little, adolescent brain, you can do it.
Too hard? Okay, we understand. Here’s the answer: DON’T SHELVE ANTHOLOGIES ON BBA SHELVES. There’s more than one author. Duh!
But wait! There’s more! Nadege proceeds to write on her facebook page and , coming to a realization about GR that we have been preaching and teaching on this blog ever since its inception last July. Then, Ashleigh, in all her YA Kitten glory, says that she’s “internet famous” and that she’s not going to take Nadege’s comment sitting down:
Ooh, you get her, Ash. You show her how tough you are. You go sick your bully friends on her and trash her books and drag her name through the mud just so you can show her who’s boss. Such a tough girl, aren’t you? So brave. So mature.
Alright. Stopping here for a second. Let’s think about this situation, about Ashleigh and her bully friends, and about how their bully culture works. Add this in with all the independent authors swarming around Goodreads and you have a recipe for endless drama and bully wank into infinity, ad nauseam. Sometimes I think the creators of GR did this on purpose just so they could sit back with popcorn and enjoy the show.
It’s mind-boggling that Ashleigh and her band of merry bullies act the way they do and then have the audacity to be surprised when people take offense. Here’s a helpful hint: quit pissing authors off. Quit rating and reviewing books you haven’t read. Quit shelving anthologies because of one author you don’t like. You are only causing trouble for yourself.
Rameau did the same thing and got a bunch of heat for it, too (post on that to come). If they keep doing this, they are only going to continue to piss people off. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out, either.
Okay, so, after all this, guess how Ashleigh ends her blog post. You ready? Your eyes are going to roll right out of your head:
Moral of the story: don’t mess with this kitten. I prefer to be sweet, but if you give me just cause, I’ll fight back with everything I have.
Now do you see why we think she’s the most annoying bully?
Nuff said.
