Well, we found out which bully led the onslaught against Sharon Desruisseaux. This is an author who has been on our BBG list for some time now, so it’s a good thing we can now show you exactly why she’s there. But before we do, we’d like to show you what she and her “friends” have done to Sharon’s books. (We write the word “friends” in quotes because these people aren’t real friends. Not even with each other. Basically, they’re your friends until you do something accidentally to piss them off, then they blacklist you.) Anyhow, here are the shelves they created for her book, :
And here are the people who shelved her book this way:
Recognize anyone? Yes, as you may have noticed, it is always the same people.
Now, we discovered Angela was the author attacking Sharon by going down this list of people on Sharon’s book and then reading Angela’s latest .
First off, in the post, she accuses Sharon of writing fake reviews, then proceeds to tell her off, saying that she doesn’t want to be friends. Just listen to this woman. Ignorance and hate ooze out of every word she says:
Then she says:
So, let us get this straight, Angela. You’ll blacklist someone you don’t even know, have never met nor had any interaction with simply because one of your “friends” doesn’t like them? Hmm… *scratches chin* So… what if your “friend” is in the wrong? What if your “friend” was just having a bad day and decided to take it out on this particular author? You’re just going to jump on the bandwagon and blacklist them, too?
You want to know what we think? We think you need to grow up. Either that, or go back to high school. Your actions here are exactly the kind of ignorant, monkey-see-monkey-do behavior that makes GR the sewer that it is, that makes it hard for anyone just to stay off a shitlist:
You all see that? Work hard not to get on a shitlist? Okay, we’re going to pause here for a second. Let’s think about that. She has to work hard to stay off a shitlist. That’s pretty telling. Why the hell should anyone have to work hard for that? I mean, unless you’re a complete asshole (which all of the bullies are and all of the people we’ve seen targeted by them are not), then you shouldn’t have to work hard to stay off a shitlist. Sharon is absolutely right when she says that the bullies’ behavior is petty and juvenile. They don’t seem to understand that it’s THEIR actions that cause others to take offense and thus respond the way they do. And then they have the audacity to blame the victims for the drama that they cause:
Hmm… You got two things wrong here, Angela. One is that it’s not just the indie world that’s rough. From talking to writers, we’ve learned that it’s both the indie and traditional worlds put together that are rough. And it’s not because of people like Sharon. It’s because of bullies like you.
I feel sorry for Sharon’s children.
Sharon’s children? Why?
Doh! Sorry, I meant Angela’s children.
What a bitch! Something I’ve noticed about these people is the infantile mentality they all seem to share. My friends don’t like this person so I won’t like them either. They all belong in high school!
Actually the dumb ass got three things wrong at the end. The two you mentioned and the third was that she did explain why Sharon was put on a shitlist. Because Angela pulled a monkey see, monkey do. That’s really what these people are, a bunch of chattering monkeys shitting on anything they dislike. Monkey see, monkey do-do.
That’s funny!
This author is the author that attacked me on goodreads. She also attacked me on amazon and stalked me elsewhere. I have flagged her a few times on both places. She does have her followers which is also makes things really hard. Does anyone have an ideas of what I can do?
Anon, you should read our Do’s and Don’t’s page:

These people need absolutely no provocation to start “shelving” people, too. I made a thoroughly middle-of-the-road comment that they consciously misread in order to add me to these lists. They WANT to persecute people — writers who can actually write anyway. I’m beginning to think having stalkers should become a merit badge or something. (I’m not serious — I’ve had several of them and it’s not fun)
You’re absolutely right. The WANT to do it. They want to inflict as much harm as they can. It’s sociopathic behavior.
Bitter sociopaths, absolutely.
I take it you’ve all seen this:
Angela, and her brute squad are at it again.
I snorted when I read this update in ETA:goon’s review:
What, are reviewers supposed to be exempt from criticism? Has it not been passed down to authors, would-be authors, fans of authors, and Internet surfers in general that anything you post on the Internet is subject to being snarked on? Why should book reviewers be any different, Angela, you insufferable twit?
They’re as thin-skinned as they’re always saying we are. And they have some weird hatred
for writers that fuels their disdain.
It is truly sick how these girls all gang up and attack. If anyone comments on the review they automatically think it must be the author. It is just a sad world we live in and Goodreads actually encourages these gangs to behave like this. I hope I’m not the only one truly sickened by this behavior.
Until some of the higher-profile “author” sites stop condoning their behavior (I guess out of fear of being targeted themselves, and to make themselves look “tough” and “professional”), nothing will change. These vicious children honestly think it’s open season on all writers (or all writers who aren’t them), that their own nasty insults and personal attacks constitute “reviews” — and that they somehow are in a special, protected class that keeps them from being reproached without a great thunder of “indignant outrage” by their sycophants and sockies.
Angela also led the attack on this author:
Thank you for being here! As an indie author I have had my share of being hated on…
Part of the problem with GR is they encourage this type of behavior: This is directly from their review guidelines:
Harsh critical statements that apply to the book or the writing in it, such as “This guy can’t write a lick,” or “This book is absolute trash.” Again, honest opinions about books are always going to be welcome and encouraged on Goodreads.
I actually wanted my books pulled from GR website but it refuses under the idea that they are keeping the most up to date catalog of books in print…I for one will not allow any of my future work to be listed there….at least by me anyway.
Thanks guys!
It’s not just indies who get this. There are big-name big 6 writers who get this kind of crap, too — personal attacks and the like. It’s just a matter of time until one of these jerks gets sued by a big publisher.
Sadly enough I wish that would happen so the bullying would stop.
If you really are a Christian or a follower of God (Dakota Shepherd) then you should think about this passage…
Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Now, you may post this on your blog and make fun of it… and if that is the case, then you would also be ridiculing the bible. I think if you really are a believer and want to act like a true Christian, you, along with anyone else who strikes out intentionally at others just for ridicule or even profit, would take this scripture to heart and remember that the guy above is also a reviewer… and it’s his stars that really count.
Also – I am in no way affiliated with this site, nor do I frequent it. I just felt VERY compelled to stop by today and post this passage…
Hmmm, what does this have to do with the topic?
I might be because Angela Horn is a self-proclaimed Christian, which many think is odd because of the way she acts. Just a guess.
Oh yeah, I think Angela’s middle name is Hypocrite. Disgusting. I don’t know how anyone like that can look at themselves in the mirror and be proud of what they do.
