When we said that there is something rotten at the core of GR, we were right. To recap from our previous post, Something Rotten at the Core of GR, we told you about what happened to GR member Kathy when she and Angela had a disagreement in the then secret Asshat group. (To read that discussion, go to Asshats Will Be Asshats). After we published their disagreement on our site, Kathy suddenly found that her account was being tampered with by one of the moderators at GR. That is, her reviews and messages started disappearing. When she tried to replace them, her account was deleted altogether:
What’s more, Eve Thomas who had announced she was back on GR to promote her new book on domestic violence, suddenly found that out of nowhere, one of her blog posts had been deleted and then shortly after that, her account was completly blown away as well.
What do these two women, Kathy and Eve, have in common? They both had run-ins with Angela.
Not only that, shortly after our publication of Something Rotten at the Core of GR, we had a wave of people contact us to let us know that when they had shelved as Badly Behaving Author, their accounts, too, were booted from the site (which made me almost choke on my wine when I read . Can we say that Angie is just a tad hypocritical? Why, yes, I think we can!).
In the comments on our last post, speculations went flying everywhere about the Goodreads staff being involved in the corruption and criminal activity. Now, given a new piece of evidence, we know for sure that they are. A site visitor sent us this screenshot of a taken from Angela’s review of Kristin Michelle Adam’s book:
For all those who don’t know what TPTB stands for, it’s “The Powers That Be”. So, now we know that Angela is one of “The Powers That Be” on Goodreads, which means that she is either a moderator or some kind of manager.
Is this all starting to make sense now?
Now, let’s give you a little taste of what Angela is like:
As you can clearly see, she is a very angry woman. To read more about Angela, you can go here and here.
So what is our message today? Why are we showing you this? Because, these are the kind of people who are running Goodreads.
We’ll say that again, this time a little more loudly:
THESE ARE THE KIND OF PEOPLE WHO ARE RUNNING GOODREADS!
With Angela being TPTB on GR, the site is really getting to be exactly the kind of snake pit Absolute Write has become with Macallister Stone as its owner and moderator (if any of you don’t remember our post on AW, please read The Banning of Robin Sullivan).
So, on that note, we’re going to end this post with a comment left by Karig:
Aaaaand this is why Goodreads is utterly worthless for authors: The inmates are running the asylum over there — or, at the very least, one of the inmates has access to the security office.
You’re absolutely right, Karig. The nutters are indeed running the asylum.
***************************************************************************************************
An addendum. We wanted to show you by A.H. showing her reaction to GR friends with whom she has just had a falling out. The post is very telling about her character:
We now have her listed on our Biggest Offenders list and on our Scary Run Fast sidebar.
Whatever you do, watch out for this one!
« Amazon Thinks You’re Stupid Unprofessional, Thy Name Is Goodreads »
Though not intending to defend the opposition here, I must state that my account has not been deleted and I shelved many of Angela’s books with the following: obsessed-bba, troll-author, harassed-by-author, threatens-people. The shelved titles are intact when logged-in and when viewing anonymously.
HOWEVER, I do note that her titles have only the genre shelves showing ( Horror, Young Adult, and Horror > Zombies) and a person browsing would have to click on “see top shelves” to view the many shelves her titles are on. On the other hand, my titles all show the nasty shelves that each of the gang used and have NO GENRE shelves.
For the record, my rude shelving of Angela’s books are not as obnoxious as her shelving of mine and she did it first.
So a double standard and favoritism? Certainly.
I think you’ve been one of the lucky ones, Vicky. Well, so to speak. I’m sorry she’s spattered her feces all over your books. You didn’t deserve that.
Thank you Johnny – she is the one that gathered the gang to attack each of my books. She uses vile shelves – I use rude shelves in response – and there’s a difference. Really I believe that her vile shelving says more about her than it does about any book that’s abused.
I’ll add that they may be trying to ‘prove’ that they do not operate as claimed here by NOT deleting my account. Of course I couldn’t care less if that account was deleted anyway.
Keep up the great work!
As I explained before, I read half of one of Angela’s awful book. It was a dreadful book, so I gave it one star and explained why in my review.
Other then Angela’s book I only reviewed books that I liked, I rated most books 4 or 5 stars. TBH, I rarely used GR because of all the trolls. However, soon after I one stared Angela’s book, my Goodreads account was deleted. No explanation. Nothing. I emailed GR to ask why they deleted my account, but they didn’t even reply.
I did nothing wrong on GR. In fact, I hadn’t even used my account for the week before it was deleted. I think STGRB are really onto something here.
I just read this.
I’m not easily floored but this woman is just too much. Does she really not realize that she is the BBA?
I know. Amazing, isn’t it?
I especially like how Angela says that saying “Get a life” or “Grow up” to her and her fellow crap-flingers is a symptom of a “badly-behaved author.” Because if you dare to complain about the stench of what these angry creeps throw at people, that’s a sign that you’re somebody who needs to be screamed at and review-bombed.
So basically Goodreads is ruled by a clique of badly-behaved authors who behave FAR more atrociously than anybody they’ve ever gone after. Why would anybody sane boycott an author based on the word of THESE harpies? If there’s anybody in the writing world who needs to be boycotted because of their behavior, it’s Angela and company.
I also think that Angela sounds like one of these creepy screeching fishwives who were indulged when they were little girls and were never taught or expected to behave like f__king human beings. Gosh, I can’t imagine why people would be telling her and the rest of her coven to “grow up.” It probably wouldn’t do any good, though, because she’s probably the woman who stands in the middle of the street in broad daylight screaming at her neighbors to shut their dog up, or who gets into loud quarrels at two o’clock in the morning, or dumps her garbage into other people’s yards — and she’ll likely be doing stuff like that until the day somebody carts her off to the nursing home.
LMAO! So well said!
I shouldn’t have done it but I went to Amazon and checked out the sample page of Blood Tide. All of the things a beginning writer is told not to do she does right on the first page. That was some of the worst writing I have ever seen in my life! I’ve written better prose than that when I was in high school. I dare people to check it out. Seriously. You will die laughing!
And the first chapter is all about people taking a dump or taking a crap. What a joke! Did she not evolve past the Anal Stage? Angela is lucky my standards are high when it comes to fiction. If I had bought that book, based on the garbage I read in the first chapter? One star.
Goodness gracious, I can’t believe I’ve found someone who agrees with me about the first page of Blood Tide.
Why don’t you come and join me on my review of it? I’m afraid to read it by myself. I think it might have the effect of euthanasia.
Tempting, but I don’t have the patience for the drama-llama stuff these folks like to dish out. I However, l’ll read your review with pleasure!
I read most of it. Apparently one of the female characters has blond hair growing out of her eyeballs.
Intriguing.
That book’s first scene is pretty amusing for all the wrong reasons, isn’t it?
In a world where vampires and supernatural monsters are roaming freely, “Willow” decides to go out into the woods in the middle of the night by herself — because her sister “Paloma” was on the toilet too long and Willow got impatient. Willow gets chased by a turd monster — yes, a turd monster. A turd monster the size of a bear, squealing like an angry Miss Piggy. Yeah, I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it. No wonder Willow was “throwing blonde hair out of her green eyes” and “dodg[ing] trees and jump[ing] over rocks” to get away.
Paloma, finally off the toilet, runs the monster down with her SUV, making it go squoosh all over the pavement, then gets out and makes a joke about how her own turd was about as big as the monster.
Wow, why isn’t this on the New York Times bestseller list? Eat your heart out, Stephen King!
bwahahahaha!
Angela has a shit fetish. Who could’ve known?
I lol’d. Then I lol’d again.
I tried reading the page after you mentioned it because I’m curious and … good lord. I couldn’t help but wince in embarrassment!
Also, I feel like she has some sort of obsession with fecal matter. I couldn’t help but notice the multiple references to shit, dumps, crap, etc. — just in the first few paragraphs. Gross.
She must have a shit fetish, if there is such a bizarre thing.
Yuck. She’s disgusting through and through.
I intend to keep this as short as possible without omitting relevant and important facts. I want you to know why Angela originally attacked me and all of my books and dragged her gang into the abusive fray. The original problem also connects to her statement referencing a veteran (she misspelled veteran).
A GR member by the name of Marie shelved my titles as “lendink” back in August 2012. Now I only signed-up with GR to respond to a man that posted a wonderful review of my Memoirs book in August of 2012, and that’s when I saw the shelf. I had received a Google alert on the review of that title. Think about the Lendink fiasco for a moment. It became a mob effort to attack participating authors’ books. Numerous bloggers covered the topic, including Violet Blue (a tech writer on CNET). Blue, also an author, made a statement at the beginning of her article that the owner of Lendink is a veteran.
My couple of short responses on that article related to a woman that pursued me for daring to disparage the Lendink site because it belonged to a veteran and all veterans deserve our support. I continued the conversation with others over in Google + and our discussions never mentioned the (possible) fact that he was a veteran. The site owner also attacked me for my short response to the woman under Blue’s actual post – his name is Dale, but I do not recall a last name.
First of all, the Lendink site design was crap and it had a security certificate that was expired. I understand how 500+ authors mistook it for a scam site. I had already defended the issue in KDP and did so only hoping that the mob would cease attacking these authors’ books. My ultimate solution (in the Google + discussions) was for Dale to send each offending author a bill for $100 – that beat the heck out of gathering a sympathy mob to attack their books using his possible status as a veteran.
Whether Dale is or is not a veteran was irrelevant to the issue. He shouldn’t have expected special assistance just because he is a veteran, if that is even true. The Lendink site had no connection whatsoever to being a veteran or not being one. Besides, I never just believe anyone claiming to be a veteran when the situation is unrelated to being one anyway. My response comments to Marie are still visible on my GR profile (public), which is a user profile in my real name. Make sense?
Well, it didn’t make sense to Marie when she labeled my titles “lendink”. Of course I responded to such a label (shelf)! The last thing I needed in life was a mob attacking my books just because I defended the authors that did send takedown notices to Go Daddy. Those authors didn’t deserve the mob attack, so I sure didn’t.
Fast forward to April 2013. I visited the GR site as a result of something I read in KDP. All that I did was to click “like” on a blog post written by a lady (G.L. Drummond) that suffered an attack similar to one I dealt with back in September of 2012 in KDP. I’m not going to get into that mess because I did blog about it back then and after I watched the gang on GR attack my own attacker’s books, I removed the posts from my blog. I realized that in the 7 months since the KDP fiasco, none of my three adversaries (a major spammer, a woman that filed a false report with the feds, and a misogynist) had touched my books. I did not touch their books. I decided that no matter what serious trouble that mess involved, we were ALL better than the nasty GR troll gang. I removed the posts related to the KDP fiasco so as to not give the GR trolls more ammunition to use on my own adversary.
My simple “like” on that blog post on GR is what led Angela to my name and then my books. When she saw my responses to Marie on the “lendink” label, she had a major temper tantrum and rallied her gang to her cause. Some of the group can see the forest for the trees and did not participate. Angela and numerous others pursued me either just because they could or they’re all just plain stupid; I have no clue which one fits this story. Angela uses the word ‘veteran’ like Marie did and like they both change their socks daily. People like this make me really angry. They run around claiming to support veterans, but are totally clueless as to what “support” actually means or perhaps to them it is the statement alone.
My reference to seeing the forest for the trees relates to how I do actually support a veteran and have dedicated time and money to his real veteran-related cause for a couple of years now. His status as a veteran (former JAG) is actually related to the situation, unlike with Dale and the Lendink mess.
For Angela (because we know you’re gonna read this): Any clue how much time, effort and money I spend actually supporting a veteran? Not to mention the amount of time I am forced to waste over your pursuit of me and attack on my books rather than actually supporting that veteran? You are one dumb witch. Figure it out dippo:

I left AH a nasty message on goodreads, telling her that she was a BBA and a bitch.
I only got one email from GR afterward which said that ETA:soon or whatever first replied to my post. I didn’t bother to read it because I simply don’t care to.
Don’t those from STGRB suspect that ETA:soon is a sock puppet account belonging to Angela Bitch?
Regardless, I posted my message putting Angela in her place, but I have not been banned yet. I posted it 3 days ago. This isn’t to say AH isn’t playing with people’s accounts. This is only my personal experience so far.
Yep, we already knew that. If you go to this link and scroll down, you’ll see where we’ve linked her to ETA:soon.
https://stopthegrbullies.com/2013/03/21/bully-attacks-this-week/
Okay, thanks JBG. This will be more interesting reading.
If you get banned for calling someone a bitch because you don’t like what they’re saying to other people, it won’t reflect well on STGRB to use that as an example of bias even if AH’s behavior is questionable. Behavior like “putting that bitch in her place” is supposed to be what STGRB is fighting against.
Well, not necessarily. We wouldn’t phrase it the way you did just now, but our site is about calling bullies out on their behavior and Angela is clearly one of the worst bullies we’ve seen. Our blog is also here for those who have been victims to come vent their frustrations because they obviously can’t do it on GR without consequences, that is, getting their comments or reviews deleted or getting kicked off of GR altogether. We do state, however, in our Learn More pages that we’re not recommending that our readers go after or harass the bullies. We are just here to warn others of whom to avoid.
“We’re not recommending that our readers go after or harass the bullies”
I suppose I didn’t articulate it well, but this is what I was thinking of in my last comment. Venting is venting, but I’d be wary of portraying the banning of someone who went to another’s space to “put that bitch in her place” as part of the problem STGRB has with Goodreads. If that’s what someone defines as calling out, sure, but if it’s done on AH’s space it does more harm than good to STGRB’s image if any subsequent banning is taken as anything other than “well that’s what happens when you cuss someone out and attack them on their own space.”
I should add that this doesn’t apply to the mods in this specific context. I feel this example comes close to treating their potential banning the same as a banning that occurred because of the reasons you established this blog. Again, I feel what sets this example apart is that it occurred on AH’s blog, not on STGRB or a private ranting space or anywhere else.
Hoff, I don’t think it’s been established yet that it was in Angela’s space. Regardless, SSMHP is a site visitor, not a mod here. SSMHPs behavior has nothing to do with our guidelines and recommendations. Not to mention the fact that the bullies have gone countless times into other people’s spaces and verbally attacked them. If a site visitor here has done the same thing, then that is no reflection on us because we cannot control the actions of others. We can only recommend what they should do.
Thank you, JBG.
Yes I admittedly sank to Angela’s level when I posted that on GR. No I shouldn’t have done it.
But if I’d posted abusive rants to Angela every time I really wanted to, trust me, she would’ve had hundreds of nasty messages by now. I capped it off for months even though it made me very angry about her behavior.
She is the worst b*tch I have ever seen on GR. By far.
Hoff, you are correct in what you’ve said. On the other hand it’s not entirely fair to judge me.
With that said, in the future I will be sure to stay a “good girl” and stay out of trouble. I had been “good” for a long time, I only thought it was time someone told Angela that her behavior is utterly atrocious. I did it in the wrong way.
I feel honored to state I have never come across Angela. And I hope I never do!!
What’s she going on about here?
That blog post struck me as bizarre. She also sounded whiny in it…?
Someone should really slip her that Prozac. Or something stronger.
Wow! She’s got some serious issues.
No lie!
Don’t forget to read my post below too. I looked up several of AH’s book sales on Amazon.com.
In short, Angela has NO book sales and that’s probably why she takes her anger out on other authors.
She needs psych help to deal with her overwhelming feelings of failure, as opposed to trying to bring others down to her level.
I noticed that Angela is no longer in the BBA group. This group seems to have lost or kicked out a few members, they’re down to 277 from 281 a few days ago and 283 a few days before that.
And she’s started a new group called the BBA Whisperer.
I wonder what’s going on.
What’s going on is that she’s totally cracked.
At least it’s only 277 members. I’m no good at math, but does that mean that only .01% of goodreads members are bullies? 😛
BBA Whisperer is a dumb name, by the way. Couldn’t she think of anything better?
Hmm,…. reads like her empire is starting to crumble, brick-by-brick. Perhaps she is losing some of her “foot soldiers” who realize what a psycho-B she is! (Not to mention the fact she cannot write!)
I just figured out the real reason why AH is such a bitch.
Her books suck. Her books are not selling.
Angela has a book that was released on Amazon 10 months ago. The sales rank? Number 471,201 on Kindle. Explains a lot, doesn’t it? what’s so funny is that she tells other authors the reason why their books aren’t selling is because they “suck”, yet her own books aren’t selling worth a flying f*ck.
Another book’s rank is 5 million. Yes. 5 million.
Another book? Ranked 4 million.
Another book? Ranked 4 million.
Another book? Ranked 5 million.
Another book? Ranked 457,000
You get the idea. Angie is a failed, frustrated, bitter author. She wants to take her anger out on other authors so she can feel better about her own epic failure.
This woman has the worst sales figures I’ve ever seen. So many books. So little sales.
Poor Angela. Must suck to be you.
It’s sad since the only time you’re fulfilled is when you’re berating and dogging other authors.
Here’s an idea: write a good book instead of so many shitty ones.
True – I noticed that when looking around to learn something about the strange woman attacking me. She has low sales on all books except the one by her pseudonym Bijou Hunter.
Oh, she has another pen name?
Bijou Hunter. Still haven’t heard of her.
I went ahead and looked up her book Damaged and the Beast, and I still saw a terrible sales rank! It was number 833,970.
Unfortunately, the bitch’s kindle book had a nice ranking, something she certainly does not deserve.
Oh well. At least 99% of her books suck shit. Most of her reviews are probably bullshit too, as far as that goes. She has a lot of fans, yet none of them are buying her books, except for the kindle one.
I enjoyed reading the bad reviews on that book. One lady said this: “I felt like I was reading a story about a bunch of immature 14 year olds and I’m convinced that my IQ has now dropped” and she gave it one star. Here’s another one-star review: “Another annoying habit this author had was the harping on the sex. It was the same dialogue over and over again. Horrible horrible horrible book. If I could I would give this -5 stars.”
Wonder how Angela liked her scathing one-star reviews? Tee hee.
I also think most of the good reviews were bullshit. The very first two raving reviews were around two sentences long. One was a one hit wonder (only one review and miraculously it was for Angela’s book). The second rave review was 3 sentences and that person only had 9 other reviews that spanned only 3 lousy months.
The rest are probably just her inner circle of enablers and ass kissers. I simply find it very hard to believe after the failure of her previous books, that suddenly this one would be so successful. It does not make sense to me at all.
Angela has over 50 fans-enablers-people too scared not to kiss Angela’s ugly ass on GR. I’m sure they know her other pseudonym as well. They’re the ones who have given all the good reviews on Amazon. I’d bet on it. 😉
Hmm.
In addition to that, I believe part of her book’s success is due to her labeling it as New Adult. NA is very popular these days. Angela knew to use that genre as a way to help her book sell. Still doesn’t mean jack shit, and still certainly doesn’t mean it’s worth a f**k.
Angela herself isn’t worth two shits in a filthy public toilet.
To Mr. Bryant:
You just made me lol my ass off. Your comments were right on the mark!
😆
She probably… well, never mind. I was going to type something really crude but it would be going to far. That’s why we need a private forum where we can chat without worrying about the assholes interfering.
Meant to say *too* as in “too far”.
Gotta love those grammar mishaps.
Remember that song by the Rolling Stones called “19th Nervous Breakdown”? That’s Angela H. There was a line in the song, . . . “Oh who’s to blame? That girl JUST CAN’T (sing) WRITE.”
Well, you know the old saying about that, right?
“Those that can, do. Those that cannot—become a rancid, psycho-bitch!”
Angela has now made our Biggest Offenders list (scroll to the bottom):
https://stopthegrbullies.com/learn-more/the-biggest-offenders/
Oh, you did the right thing. She really is one of the worst! Actually, to me, she IS the worst.
You really should put her other name, Bijou Hunter, there as well so people know she’s the same person.
Slightly OT, but does anyone know what happened here?
I don’t know who Emma is.
WOW! That is one of the most despicable threads I’ve read. And Kara closed the thread AFTER THE DAMAGE was done??????
Typical. They don’t care about what happens to authors, but if a reviewer is being harassed, they end that shit immediately. STGRB has a post on Kara shutting down a thread because she was concerned about the reviewer, who was actually being an asshole if I remember. Which post was that, do you guys know?
Here it is:
https://stopthegrbullies.com/2013/02/11/kara-shuts-down-harassment-thread/
Look at the difference between Kara’s comment in the post above and her comment on Goronwy’s link. Do you see her asking people not to harass the author? Uh… no.
But no surprises there.
In some other post, one of the members of this site said that many of the trolls are disabled. That they sit all day in their wheelchairs and bully others on the web. I just wanna say that we shouldn’t go there..disability has nothing to do with bullies and trolls. Most trolls and bullies are perfectly healthy people, and many of them go as far as to even speak profanities for disable people as well. Just wanted to say it and make something clear. Just because some of them may be disabled doesn’t mean that their disability is the reason why they do what they do.
