We here at STGRB are in contact with organizations that are pulling together to pursue criminal and civil charges against the organization known as Goodreads. Details cannot be disclosed at this time; however, we are looking for a current employee of Goodreads to share inside information about their organization. Any information received will be used for future lawsuits against Goodreads.
With that said, we are aware of the recent buyout from Amazon. This buyout may result in cutbacks and/or job losses – your job may be at risk. Goodreads, most likely, has already had an Amazon buyout meeting for their employees. This meeting’s primary purpose is to ensure staff members that their jobs are secure. This, however, is a smokescreen. This meeting is to keep existing staff members from seeking out new employment while they undergo reconstruction. Once the reconstruction phase is over, cutbacks, layoffs and reassignments will be issued.
Neither Amazon nor Goodreads’ upper management will inform their subordinates of future business plans until that phase of the plan has been reached. You or your position may be set for termination. Don’t let your co-worker take away this opportunity from you, so be the first to respond to our invitation.
Your privacy is guaranteed. Any and all whistleblower information received will be confidential, and we promise that NO information will be released to the public without prior consent. So how can you take us up on this offer? Easy, be the first to step forward by contacting us at stopthegrbullies (at) gmail dot com. Your identity, email, and information will remain private.
Great idea STGRB! Everyone should be emailing and tweeting this to their staff members so that they all know. I’m sure one of them will come forward.
There’s more than one way to get information like that
You’ll probably wind up having to subpoena one of them through a judicial order. It’s easier to do that anyway.
I hope we finally see the fall of Failreads.
I’ve also seen “Rottenreads.”
We can throw Crapreads in there too.
Stopping the Goodreads trolls on LinkedIn:
Is there really a lawsuit?
There will be and it’s going to be a big one.
If I were an author I would sue just to see if I could have some of the fakes exposed in public.
Over on the BBA thread, they’re saying that someone should punk you guys by posing as a GR employee. I just wanted to warn you: if you get a call from a GR employee who sounds incredibly pompous, it’s Brent Butler.
Thanks for the heads up!
I figured they’d try something like that.
I’m curious. Who’s the MG author they’re talking about here?
A post on this is coming soon.
This looks interesting, can’t wait to read!
I’m sure you’ve seen the post at Nathan Bransford’s blog by now. Some of the biggest bullies I know have been there leaving comments. This one was interesting. I’m not posting the name of the author who left the comment, but trust me she’s a passive aggressive bully from way back.
“GR reviews aren’t for authors. I’m firmly of the mindset that authors should have nothing to do with their GR reviews. Professional reviews, yes, certainly, those are our business.
But not forums like GR. It’s as much of the culture of reading as the actual reading. Absolutely no different than gathering with friends around a table to snark about a book or a movie or TV show. No different than MSTK3.
Do some of them go overboard and say terrible things? Yes. But the same thing happens in sports, video games, tv, movies, music, etc.
It sucks and it’s stupid, but it’s also not a place where authors are supposed to be. Leave the readers to be readers and stay out of it.”
Yep, we cover the attack here:

LOL! Apocalypse Now…
Can you please post an update on the status of this class action lawsuit? I know some authors that want in.
We haven’t heard any more news on this. If we get something, we’ll post it.
