If you all haven’t read Carroll Bryant’s hilarious new post, BookLikes Supports Bullying; CEO Unprofessional, you should. In it, he makes a very good observation:
Considering that this is more than likely Dawid’s strategy, we decided to do a little research into the traffic stats of both sites to see exactly how the “mass exodus” of trolls from Goodreads to BookLikes has affected both sites. Not surprisingly, it hasn’t even put a dent in Goodreads. Now, remember what PG said in his post:
PG is right. We know many of you don’t need to see proof, but we’ll show you what we found on anyway:
Now, compare this with Alexa’s BookLikes stats page:
Hmm… big difference there.
So, Dawid, if you plan on building up your new book review site, you’re going to have to take PG’s advice and do a lot more than kiss up to cyber bullies. You might try focusing on developing some killer app that will draw people in, because we’re certain the bullies won’t be able to do it for you. If anything, they will scare people away.
At least it’s good to hear the bullies aren’t in the majority. But it’s also hysterical to hear them speak as if Goodreads will implode without them.
Maybe Jane Litte promised Dawid a lap dance if he promises her “free speech”
Visualizing that gives me a headache.
Yes. Please don’t say things like that without warning.
I think I threw up a little in the back of my mouth.
So, I don’t know. I’m not sure Dawid is an idiot. I just think he has no idea what he signed up for.
I know he turned his back on STGRB, but I think it would be nice to leave the door open for him to come back. The bullies can be very persuasive and put people under a lot of pressure. He may gain more insight over time, and it would be nice if he could then turn back to STGRB for assistance.
It’s clear he is currying favor with these people to try and build his website. The problem for Dawid is that Passive Guy is right. He will need some kind of new “invention” to get users to make the switch to his site.
Our door is always open to him, but I agree with Carroll that he is acting unprofessionally for a CEO.
I just found this in the Amazon fiction thread and I just had to share it because I thought it was funny

Overheard while standing in line at the local …… Store, Send me a message on GRs and I’ll tell you how to set up your shelves on Book Like. Now really get the context of this comment, Send me a message on GRs and I’ll tell you how…., why are they still using the GR site? Simply because it works, as does Amazon. You notice what happens when you only have 47 chromosomes. Everytime, and without fail. Why, the B. has 5523 books and he keeps them where, yes on the head of a pin.
They’re still popping up on the romance thread from time to time to complain about how long it’s taking them to transfer all their books to Booklikes. Hahahahahahahahahaha.
