Surprise! Surprise! Guess who’s back. In less than 20 days of privatizing her blog and “disappearing”, Sarah Daltry, who proclaimed (falsely) that she was “shutting down” because she had been so badly bullied, is back writing books and keeping her social media updated. That didn’t take long!
She even opened a on April 23rd:
Are we surprised?
Let me think about that. Uh… no. No, we’re not surprised. Not at all. We called this back in our post, Sarah Daltry Cries Bully, when we first noticed her scheming shenanigans:
Uh, okay… *sigh* If you haven’t figured it out by now, this is bullshit, everyone. There was no suicidal person who messaged her. No one called her an attention-seeking whore. No one has bullied her and we can guarantee that she never had any intention of shutting down her books or her social media. We know this for a fact because people have seen this author, under other names, do this before. Her next move will be to suddenly reappear and tell everyone that she has reconsidered and will continue writing and publishing for public consumption because all of the encouraging messages from readers have changed her mind.
Don’t be fooled by this.
Also, several people have had experience with this author in other social media before this whole episode and have told us about it. All we want to say to our readers regarding this is that whenever someone solicits funds online, be it in the form of cash, services or donations, exercise EXTREME caution. There is NO reason someone should be asking you for money online, unless you are making a legitimate purchase.
Now, why are we telling you about this?
Because we’ve seen other authors cry bully before. Last year, author Jac Wright attempted this by emailing us and claiming that he was the next Lauren P. When we checked out Jac’s books, there was NO sign of bullying whatsoever. Then, he confided in one of our blog readers that he was doing it to garner publicity to sell his books. When authors do this, they are abusing people’s sympathy and trust. They are crying wolf or more appropriately “crying bully” when the bullies have never touched them. This is incredibly unfair to those authors who have actually been bullied and whenever we see an author abusing people’s trust like this, we WILL call them out.
And we have called out Sarah.
Please, DO NOT feel to sorry for her. She is not a victim.
Honestly, we’re glad that she’s writing and publishing. What we don’t like is her crying bully and abusing people’s sympathy and trust. We want our readers to be aware that she does this for publicity, not because she has genuinely been bullied.
I’m glad you are following up on this one. People should know about it.
It’s amazing how low some people will stoop to sell a book. Pathetic and disgusting. Her behavior hurts everyone with true mental illness…like Ann “Looney” Somerville, Shoshanna Man-Face, and Angie-Needs-Shock-Treatment-Horn. Let’s hope those poor souls get the treatment they need. Sarah Daltry? She’s just trying to sell a book or two. Transparent and disturbing.
“Angie-Needs-Shock-Treatment-Horn”, haha, good one.
I’ve been sitting back and watching this mess unfold and I have very little doubt that this PA “team” is just Sarah. This new Facebook page already has more likes than her old one and it’s just more sympathetic to be the damaged secluded author with a team speaking for you. I have no doubt the sales are increasing and the new book (which has a cover reveal and blitz planned) will fly off of the virtual shelves. WTF ever….
This is probably true. There are few people she has been able to fool. We know this author is a master of internet personas, though, and we know she has one-starred several books by other authors she doesn’t like under these aliases/socks.
FWWIW Leah Raeder, author of Unteachable, achieved bestselling status after siding with the bullies back in September 2013, during the kerfuffle about “censorship” when the bullies ran to Booklikes. Leah publicly sided with the trolls, which is when her popularity spread … I believe because of the bullies, not because she’s a terrific author. They passed her book around, and their word of mouth greatly increased her book’s visibility.
She’s since been picked up by a mid-stream publisher and is on the USA today bestseller’s.
Shows how successful one can be if they stoop low enough.
Hey Leah R., why not admit the real reason you got to be a bestselling author? 😉 Give the bullies credit where credit is due.
I’m going to play the devil’s advocate here. If she became a bestseller, I wouldn’t say it was because of the bullies. It was because she wrote good books that caught people’s attention. The bullies may have helped her get noticed, but they didn’t create her popularity. Her books did. The reason I say that is because there are authors like Jessica Park and Jamie McGuire who rose to superstardom after having gone head to head with the bullies, instead of agreeing with them. There are also other authors out there like Nenia Campbell and Angela Horn who have taken up the bullies’ cause and still have remained nobodies. So the bullies really have no influence on an author’s success. That’s my opinion anyway. Take it or leave it.
Then that means Sarah Daltry’s books must be good enough too, and there was at one reviewer who said one of her books weren’t well written.
But it’s all subjective.
