Poor, poor Linda. She’s really been going through a rough time lately, hasn’t she? Not only was she kicked out of Goodreads for her bullying behavior, she just recently had carpet-bombed to oblivion:
If you want to see firsthand the damage, just take a look at :
Now, we don’t know who did this, but we do know exactly why they did it:
The carpet-bombers apparently took offense at this and showed her exactly what it’s like to be “punished”.
Ironic, isn’t it?
As for Linda, all we have to say is:
Careful what you wish for!
Hah! Foolish woman. Did she really think she could carpet bomb all those people and not know the unrelenting fury of the authors she’s scorned?
Dare I say it, but she still got off lucky. Her abominable shite deserves zero stars, not 1.whatever.
It’s ironic, because recently, Linda Hilton launched an organized campaign against one Raani York, and some people 5-starred her book to help counter the one-stars that Linda assaulted her with.
The result was that the typical bullies made a tremendous fuss about how “giving 5 stars to combat 1 stars” is unethical.
And what did these hypocrites then do?
They gave Linda Hilton 5 stars to combat the 1 stars.
Tisk. Tisk.
This is simply beautiful. Karma is a bitch, huh?
It’s never right to do this kind of thing, even to a carpet-bomber of her level, but as she carpet-bombed me with great regularity, and a couple of her buddies still do, I cannot weep for her.
You’re right. We don’t condone this kind of thing either, but we also don’t feel sorry for her. As DK put it, it’s Karma.
The carpet bombing appears to be in retaliation for the carpet bombing of author Raaini York who only has one title on GR:
All of the usual suspects pounced on her. The original attack seems to have started on or about 14 January 2015 against Raaini, but went nuclear on 23 January 2015 when Raaini’s wolf pack retaliated with unbelievable ferocity. Not only did they nuke Hilton into oblivion, they 5* carpet bombed Raaini back from the dead.
Wonder when Amazon is going to be embarrassed by their adolescent subsidiary.
You are halfway correct. We’ve learned through our eyes and ears that the two incidents are related in that the same group of people were responsible for them, but Raani was not involved in anyway. This was done by a group of people who are completely unrelated to her and who were angry at what happened to her and at what Hilton wrote on Mahala’s BookLikes page (see screenshot above). We just can’t identify any of the people in the group who did this. We don’t know who they are.
Interesting, Because they were obviously coordinated. They all struck simultaneously. Wish they would turn their attack to my book: Authors vs Goodreads which is being trolled by the usual suspects. This is actually a method I’ve advocated on my website: goodreadsucks.com Goodreads could solve this senseless stupidity, but I suspect it won’t happen until Amazon is embarrassed. Wish this would go viral in the lamestream media. Keep hoping Hufpo or a literary magazine would notice.
It has been addressed in the mainstream media. Also, Anne Rice has brought a lot of attention to it. Amazon refuses to act.
But wasn’t that back in 2013? I’ve seen nothing lately and it is getting worse again.
2014. It’s still an issue being addressed by many.
This was the man and his incredibly sometimes awesome followers named Parogar.
Being updated to Wattpad would have given you guys a hint. Unfortunately, the author (who, to his credit, specifically asked his readers NOT to one-vote Linda’s books) is unavailable.
poor poor Parogar
Been a fan of him for around three years. -ish.
He got banned over something related to this(from what I understand.)
Oh how I’ll miss Linda’s famous one-star reviews: “I tried. I really did.”
ROFL!!!! A grown woman who acts like a teenage ultra-brat totally deserves any shit that gets flung at her.
Maybe she should “buy” a few “fivers”…
Raani handled the savage onslaught of her books with dignity. And might I add that unlike Ms Hilton, Raani did not deserve to be trashed the way she was. As authors we have no control over what readers do. It is nice to see how fans will band together to defend a favorite author though.
I don’t feel a damn thing but happiness at this! Linda was the first carpet bomber that STGRB listed in their carpet bombers series and if I recall correctly, when GR announced their new reviewing guidelines a year ago, Linda not only participated in the rebellion, she one starred over 1000 books in one day to prove that she could without getting banned from Goodreads. She’s harassed countless authors, not to mention thrashing their books. She is one of the biggest bullies around. It’s about time she got a taste of her own medicine!
This doesn’t make a huge difference. Linda’s shitty books had very low ratings already.
You should have posted the screenshot where she says this kind of behavior is perfectly okay. I wouldn’t participate in this, but I find it impossible to feel sorry for her.
But hey there is something to be learned from this. At least it seems like a down rate as punishment bully is getting a taste of their own medicine. As much as I don’t personally approve of bullying.
It could also mean the bullies eat their own I guess.
Question: Wouldn’t it be better overall, for goodreads to adjust their system where reviews have to be approved by a moderator.
In a system where anything written is deemed publishable, it’s hard to regulate content. So sick of watchdogs trashing vanity publishing, yet approve of basically the same thing without the reading fee in goodreads reviews.
Goodreads does not have the staff to moderate reviews, nor should they, in my opinion. Granted, they should have better standards and they should enforce the rules they have now, but they don’t. What needs to be done at GR is get rid of the rating only system, get rid of the comments and likes on reviews and require members to read the Review Manual when the sign up as a member. Put a requirement in the Review Manual that the member has to read the book in order to write a review. I outline what I would like to see changed here: http://bit.ly/1xQ1KMT
Keep in mind, Goodreads is an asylum run by the inmates, because when you have 900 million books being maintained by volunteers, you have to give them some compensation. That compensation is the perception they have power. What is unfortunate is that authors continue to buy advertising and promotional packages believing they are effective marketing tools. If authors would quit supporting Goodreads economically, it would collapse.
What I don’t understand is how Goodreads can collect all published books for Amazon’s commercial exploitation. It isn’t a “Book Club.” It’s a commercial tentacle of Amazon, and as such, authors ought to have the right to remove their books. I have that right at Amazon and have exercised it, but I can’t get my books off of Goodreads.
GR SHOULD not allow ANY star rating without a review. They also need to look at the number of rankings down per day. 1,200 rankings in one day? Really?
One more thing that can be automated in this computer age; if you give an author a 1 or 2 star ranking, you can’t rank the next book from that author. A real reader wouldn’t read that second book.
Just sayin’
Or, if GR wanted to have a combination of review-required and review-not-required ratings, they could require honest reviews when people rate it as 1 or 5 stars, or perhaps even 1, 2 or 5 stars, but allow ratings without reviews for the 3 and 4 star reviews. Just an idea.

A writer lead the strike. And you know what they got for it? They were banned from wattpad at least, and maybe more.
What strike are you talking about?
Ah. I just mentioned that.
His thing about what happened(requested by him to share this to every wattpadder):
Is this GR a Linda Hilton wannabe?
It carpet bombs some authors.
