One last post we’d like to share with you (besides AA’s) regarding Jane as Jen, is the guest post PG published on his blog this past week. The author of this article makes two excellent points, again points that we missed in our original article, and we’d like to share them with our readers.
We’d have to say that one big mistake this author is making is that she assumes Jane had good intentions and didn’t mean to do any harm. We’ve seen enough of Jane’s behavior to know better (see Why Jane Litte Was Banned from RWA, JS Cooper vs. Jane Litte, Beautiful Blunder, Dear Author Strikes Again, Jane Litte Defends Violent Readers, and Twitter Attack on Nathan Bransford).
But, to each her own.
« AA On Jane Litte/Jen Frederick Bully As Author #11, HJ Leonard »
I wonder if Jane/Jen will address this on her blog at all, or just hope it will all blow over? Something tells me that she thinks she did no wrong. If that is the case, she is colder than I thought, and that is saying something.
My guess. She’s waiting for it to all blow over, although we do have some screenshots of her addressing some issues on her post. We’ll post those soon.
I just love how the twitter people are making it look like complaining about Jen is a matter of gendered complaints.
What do you mean? Most of us are women!
That’s what I mean, exactly.
To clarify, is that women can’t exactly discriminate against women. So they’re little argument that attacks against Jen is about sexism falls on deaf ears for me.
Of course Jane doesn’t have good intentions. She’s been tweeting as “Jen Frederick” all weekend as if nothing ever happened. The casual way she boldly acts on twitter is amazing to watch. This is what she tweeted to her co-author.
Jen Frederick
I had planned to lie about all day with a feather boa and chocolates (ok lying abt the feather boa thing) but sent me edits.

Now, does that sound like someone who is deeply remorseful? After this past week anyone with an ounce of feeling would have at least kept a low profile this weekend. Not Jane/Jen. She’s in your face and working even harder. This is a driven, ambitious woman. There’s nothing simple about it, except for the poor simple people who believe her intentions are good.
No, it doesn’t. It sounds like someone who is a little crazy considering the reaction she got regarding her outing as Jen Frederick.
I think the bottom line is this: as a reader and book buyer,do you trust the reviews on DA anymore?
Jane and her cronies were the ones screaming to high heaven about honesty in reviews and showing a zero-tolerance policy for anyone who engaged in anything that might remotely look like shilling. Now it’s been shown that she engaged in everything that she was attacking – and attacking viciously – albeit in a much more sophisticated form than the average self-published author. Inexperienced indies might openly ask to swap reviews, Jane has the sense to do it behind the scenes in an environment where you don’t even need to ask because some things are tacitly understood. So there were no loud, obvious shill reviews but a much more subtle and articulated promotional campaign, which included (among other things) a sudden interest in New Adult books on the part of Dear Author.
So: as a reader, do you still trust her to recommend books impartially and objectively?
I don’t trust reviews period. Gone are the days of New Yorker payed reviewers. Maybe in a universe where authors aren’t subject to “your a *cue generic vitriol more entertainment than informative verb and noun” condoned in goodreads or Amazon reviews.
I thought I’d escaped that nonsense leaving the movie review community.
I stopped trusting the reviews on DA a long time ago.
I absolutely do not trust DA and that Smart Bitches site never makes any sense. I tried reading it some years ago and everything I read felt like an inside joke that wasn’t funny. She also isn’t original and borrows from other sites and people but acts like she had the idea.
Speaking of TPV, did you guys see this? http://www.thepassivevoice.com/03/2015/why-i-quit-goodreads-or-the-bookternet-is-not-safe-for-women/
Another whiny whiner announces that she is quitting blogging because she’s a poor helpless female and the attacks on her are ‘gendered.’ Typically, she ignores the way these bloggers attack mostly female authors and try to destroy their careers, because no woman must ever ever be allowed to achieve success in writing, because that would make her better than a dinky little book blogger and we can’t have that, can we?
I respect anonymity, yet there are some obvious drawbacks. Let’s not forget that most of the review bullies are targeting female authors. *aka Jamie Mcguire.
That site bores me. It’s just a pack of whiny men.
I’m not understanding how the comments take away from the article? You could have a million whiny men. It doesn’t take away from the fact that often it’s female reviewers attacking female authors like Jamie McGuire.
I would feel funny about it, cause let’s be honest? Imagine if I had a private water cooler with my family members? If she were there, she could easily use what I say in such context against me. Thus is violates a sense of comfort.
Authors should be able to have safe spaces to say how they feel, without having to ruffle someone like Jane’s feathers.
Her Twitter feed is very strange, in that she is sweet Jen, the author, unlike hard-ass blogger, Jane. Sybil anyone?
Yes. I noticed that, too. She’s all giggles and laughs as Jen. Just a sweet humble author sending kisses and hugs to her fandom. Bet she throws a kiss to her iPad with each tweet.
When you use Twitter long enough, you’ll begin to see the BS her facade is. I don’t know of a single review bully who is being completely straight forward in their statements when they are pretending to be nice.
Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten cynical as I’ve gotten older, but I don’t believe (for Jen) it’s a case of a split personality.
You’re absolutely correct. It’s all calculated to gain exposure and attention. And, to maintain control. But I’m wondering who would take DearAuthor seriously anymore, outside of the regular bullies? This was a big one, and it’s not easy to gain credibility once you’ve lost it.
Yea I’m wondering the same myself. Actually I wonder how the whole bully infrastructure is going end up after this large blow.
I mean I guess if I luck out and become like that Jamie McGuire lady, maybe I won’t have anything to worry about.
Al this to say, these reviewers are trying to hold onto any issue they can to hold onto the review monopoly that they (arguably) have on Amazon.
I wonder if they can tell their losing out? I’ll be purchasing Ann’s book when it comes out. I wasn’t aware a year ago this bullying issue was so extensive.
“Yea I’m wondering the same myself. Actually I wonder how the whole bully infrastructure is going end up after this large blow.”
Let’s look at it this way, on a small scale. If Jane Litte ever has the audacity to point her finger at anyone else again, she’d better be prepared for the laughs that are coming her way. She may thrive as an author. She may still thrive as a reviewer. But HER days of telling anyone what is right and what is wrong are over now.
Yea, and to think at one point I was afraid to publish. The I found out how much of a loser she is.:/
Yes, pretty sure that is a given. The way she is going about as business-as-usual is just a cover up. She took a big hit in that so many of her Twitter buddies spoke against her. That was fantastic.
I didn’t know about that, fascinating.
I haven’t really kept up, as I’m taking more and more breaks from the computer. I get headaches from interactions with the bullies.
One blogger who actually is a reviewer at DA shuttered her blog and started a new one this week. And she’s stating that she will not talk about “romanceland” again on her new blog. Of course that’s not the most rational way to approach what happened with Jane. But it’s a good indication of how Jane Litte will be viewed from now on. You can’t expect to have credibility when you’ve proven you aren’t credible.
Is that the new anti stgrb blog?
Its ad promotion status makes me question the motives. If your cause were valid, why would you need paid advertisement?
Who is it?
Sunita? Looks like she is still reviewing. Probably on DA, so whatever. Not impressed with her opinions on anything. Same old….
That’s her.
But that blog has been closed and re-opened so many times I lost count.
She’s supposed to be focusing on recipes now.
I guess that’s what you do when you stop trashing everyone.
You cook.
Does Jane own her own punishing co. ? Been reading that lately. Any truth to it?
I think I’ve gotten enough information to understand the urgency of blocking people like Jane Litte from my Twitter feed.
