We find it so ironic when the bullies
And then we see them write bully reviews like this:
Yes, this is a new bully who has appeared on our radar. He or she calls his or herself “.” He/she joined the TRF under the guise of trying to “investigate the bullying,” and of course he/she determined that there was none.
Looks like “TheBunny” will fit right in with the rest of the bullies.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
I wonder what excuses the fora will come up with to defend death threats. They just keep on getting bolder and bolder.
They say it’s hyperbolic. They use that word a lot! Yet if the same sentiment were said about one of them, Mahala would be at the FBI bugging them again.
They were oh-so “threatened” when readers said they’d use a magical notebook called the Death note, which is based off a Japanese anime, but when someone outright says: She should be shot for this, even knowing the kind of sickos on the internet, it’s somehow okay????
I guess the only question is what no longer working bull-e-dress has disappeared, to be replaced by a new bull-e-dress?
So, did I invent a new word?
Not only is this person making threats, but they are assuming that everyone who comments on here, is friends on GR as well. I guess I might be, but I would know, now would I? Most people here post anon, so how would I know if I’m friends with any of y’all?
Ignoring the death threat (if one with ethics would), it vaguely reminds me of a company hiring out scientists to reach a confirmatory conclusion. This is just stupid, I’m sensing some sort of motive here.
I’m new to this site and I think what you are doing is positive. There is no excuse for bullying, obviously.
That said, while I agree that this review was inappropriate, and I see why it should have been removed, I’m wondering what the author of the post said about it. Was he/she unwilling to remove the review so it was posted here?
Odds are the author won’t comment at all on this cause of the backlash to her/him if they do say something. It’s a definite liability to your career as author and it shouldn’t be.
What drives me nuts is if they call out the reviewer for saying they should be shot, the hounds would attack them and engage in a sort of victim blaming scenario that in their minds justifies their vitriol.
I mean sure Amazon is cutting down on fake reviews, but I’m wondering what their clafications for fake reviews are going to be like.
One big step they could take was going back to requiring a certain minimum number of words.
Plagiarism detectors could be adapted to identify something that is 90% or more identical.
That’s an awesome idea. Maybe with your idea, it might drive some of those nutters away. They seem to eschew any site that might actually dare require them to write something comprehensible.
Correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t Entangled also a small press or self-publisher? I’ve only heard this from those who either go to small-press or self-publish.
Why do I suddenly think there is more to this story than reviews?
I really think STGRB needs to put together, like an excuse of the month. Whatever excuse the bullies are using that month to justify their vile behavior.
This month’s excuse would be “hyperbole.”
Doesn’t matter what the bullies say. Claiming hyperbole is apparently a get out of jail free card now.
I’m guessing I wasn’t the only one that noticed then? Like it seems like a lot of people are use the word hyperbole now.
You can bet your bottom dollar that if any author had suggested that a reviewer should be shot, the bullytariat would have gone mad, carpet bombing the author in question on Goodreads, neg voting all positive reviews of the author on Amazon, and excoriating the author in blogs. —– That these bullies defend a reviewer for using this kind of language is a measure of their hypocrisy, and their total lack of integrity. This is why, I think, it is very important for people NOT to go into the Amazon Top Reviewers Forum, ever, to engage with these disingenuous posters. Nothing, absolutely nothing of substance can be accomplished there. I urge anyone perusing the TRF to 1)stay out of the discussions and 2)report the rampant violations of the guidelines when you see them. —— The TRF is a cesspool.
That is very good advice, Anne. I wholeheartedly agree with you.
It almost seems like a safer bet at times just for Amazon to shut down the boards in question. But this is Amazon that’s being referred.
TheBunny has now changed the offending top line. The top line now says, “No Headline, As Apparently Free Speech and One Star Reviews Don’t Co-Exist”. Because, you know, free speech means you can say someone should be shot. You know, killed. And objecting to violence means one is automatically against free speech.
He/she and their cronies managed to get any comments to the review taken down. There is now not one comment on the review. On top of that, despite the book having 90% 4 and 5 star reviews, they’ve voted this, THE ONLY ONE-STAR REVIEW, up to the very top.
Oh yeah, that doesn’t look out of place. Nothing fishy going on there. Nope. Nuhhuh.
Whatever.
