Below is a spreadsheet of GR’s current carpet bombers. It is the list of people we will be featuring in our upcoming posts called the Carpet Bombers Series, featuring screenshots of the fake ratings/reviews listed on each CB’s shelves. The definition of the term, Carpet Bomber, comes from our earlier post on the subject and means:
People who leave malicious one-star reviews/ratings to sabotage an author’s book.
Carpet Bomber #2, Barbara <3~Andrew Loves Me~<3
Carpet Bomber #9, Nenia Campbell
Carpet Bomber #10 deleted carpet bombs. Post removed.
Carpet Bomber #11, Khanh Destroyer of Dreams
Carpet Bomber #12, Gillian Walsh
Carpet Bomber #14, Hihi (deleted from GR)
We are starting this series because of the backlash from the anti-bullying policy announcement, when the GR bullies made a pact to start a Goodreads Civil Protest:
We encourage our readers to report these people as soon as possible to Goodreads management. The sooner they know, the faster they can put an end to the outrageous behavior.
I think it will help when we show that suddenly all these people were one-starring tons of previously listed bba books immediately after the policy. I doubt they all read all these books in just a few hours and hated very single one of them. And for those who 1 are 75-100% of books. Why do they read if they hate it so much? It’s obvious they are being dishonest. Now maybe some will argue that their reviews were genuine and about the book but no one is that stupid and when you all take action like that you should expect consequences that may affect innocent people as well. Thy are hurting themselves and people around them with their behavior. They are hurting the integrity of the community.
Well just proves who is the Badly Behaviing People. How grown up of them.
I am truly amazed.
These figures paint a very clear picture. In2books quite obviously hates books, s/he had rated all 501 of her books at one star. 100% of the books s/he has read only deserve one star in her opinion. Who reads 501 books that they hate???
Can Goodreads, In2books or anyone else argue that these are anything other then revenge reviews? How can anyone take Goodreads seriously when they allow someone the add such obviously fake ratings?
I think In2books should change her name to NotIn2Books! Its people like this who destroyed Goodreads. No one could possibly trust any of the reviews or ratings on that site, its all a sham.
Can you post the email addresses here for GR management and Amazon so I can share those on my blog? I want to warn my fellow authors, many of whom are clueless as to this Goodreads drama.
I would personally avoid the Goodreads management, mostly because they’re incompetent, but also because half of them are DIRECTLY INVOLVED – just take a look at the number of Goodreads Librarians that fall onto the list above.
Amazon, however, have already been notified and are investigating. The more complaints they get, the more likely they are to take action.
Nader Kabbani, VP of KDP –
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon –
I’ve spoken (albeit briefly) with Nader, and he said this:
“Thank you [Name Omitted] for the email. I appreciate the feedback and the details you provided. I am investigating and will get back to you soon. Best regards, Nader ”
That was two days ago now, but at least he had the decency to reply, which is more than I can say for Goodreads – I’ve been emailing them for weeks begging for help.
Speaking of which, I’m up to eight 1-stars on all my unreleased novels. How… exciting. >:|
Thank you! It’s a big mess that I want my fellow authors to be aware of so they’ll know what’s happening when they see these random one stars showing up on their books.
Obviously, unreleased novels are no good, right? *eyeroll* Idiots…
If anyone has any names to add to this list, please add a link in the comments here so we can investigate them. Thank you!
Hi
I’ve flagged all the ones I can find on my books. Some are unflaggable (I think because they have managed to put a rating on without assigning a shelf),
I think it would be useful to include the Goodreads contact link in the body of this piece.
Grimlock, Xox, and a few others have bombed one of my dear author friends, so I’ve flagged Xox’s “bad-writer” “trash-and-bullshit” (shelf names) one-star reviews and emailed Jeff and Nader at Amazon.
You might also want to look into this one who’s also shelved all my friend’s books (as “om-nom-nom” and can-not-review”) and is listed as a GR Librarian:
And that’s dear author, not Dear Author as in Jane Litte’s site, by the way
Here’s another potential carpet bomber. She also appears to be friends with Litchick.
Her name is Michelle C.
Here’s a carpet bomber, several authors targeted and some books 1-starred not even released yet! Question: Why hasn’t GR removed the Carpet Bombers that have already been listed in the Top 8 and exposed? Why do they continue dropping their 1-star bombs and openly brag and admit it on their page?? Like Amanda??
When you advise to report to GR management, who exactly is that? Is there a link?
Wow! Got her! Yeah, she is definitely a carpet bomber.
Hah! You guys want to see it directly from the horse’s mouth? After more than a month of screwing around, emailing Nader, emailing Jeff, reporting frantically, and getting NOTHING from Goodreads, yesterday I finally got a response:
“Hello [Anony-mad],
Thank you for your patience as we looked into the ratings and user accounts you flagged to our attention. We have taken the time to review the content fully, and we have determined that we will not remove the ratings in question.
We understand that this isn’t the answer you wanted, but if you have further questions, please let us know.
Sincerely,
The Goodreads Team”
We’ve heard this from a couple other people, too. Athena can put you in touch with a group that is organizing a lawsuit.
She already has. I just wanted to make it public, so people know what’s going on. I’ve sent them back a massive list of evidence specific to my situation, AND CC’d in Jeff and Nader so they can’t feign ignorance. Plus, I used the f-word a lot. No, not THAT f-word – the “fraud” f-word. XD
Looks like H.J. Leonard nka “HJ” joins the ranks of carpet-bombers – some aren’t even released yet!
From GR Bully now turned “Carpet Bomber Extraordinaire”:
HJ rated a book 1 of 5 stars
Last Light by M. Pierce
Last Light (The Night Owl Trilogy, #2)
by M. Pierce (Goodreads Author)

Yes, that’s a carpet bombing for sure. Sometimes I have to wonder why Amazon doesn’t pay more attention to these maggots either….they are obviously CARPET BOMBER BULLIES AND TROLLS.
This morning while reading BBA at Amazon, I came upon a link that one of the most vicious trolls of all time posted for us uninformed morons to look at. In fact, Anna Karenina, alias and real name Janis Hinkle, so proudly exclaimed “Something well worth reading”…
OK Janis, I read it. Here is the link for all of us misinformed people in life:
My response after reading the link that Janis was so excited about—REALLY JANIS? I am without words. It’s hard to have words for these trolls anymore. Their values in life are based on being able to hurt other people as much as they want, then on top of that, being able to sit around on forums like BBA and talk about, or gossip if you wish, about authors they feel are inferior to THEIR standards. For the life of me, I cannot understand this philosophy, and especially by a woman who is an educator….are you really an educator Janis? I half expected that this exciting link from teacher Janis would lead me to a possible detailed explanation of some great classic literature read. Nope. But I kind of knew this all along, because Janis’s taste in books lies in the paperback romance novel. Remember all those posts about putting on her thigh high boots and whipping people? Yes, teacher Janis is above all authors because she believes she is. Nothing more. She believes it! Therefore, Janis will continue on and on and on, until she explodes from within because no one else is listening at some point.
Janis Hinkle still has the same old stale trolls following her posts. You know Janis, it’s getting old, it’s dusty, and it’s quite boring.
If my child was assigned to this woman’s classroom I’d rip her out of there so fast, Janis would think a typhoon had come through.
Carpet bomber on Amazon.co.uk known as ‘animals’: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pdp/profile/A3LJ44DPR3320U/ref=cm_cr_dp_pdp
200+ reviews and over 90% are 1 star.
I know this isn’t on GR, but I thought this reviewer was worth mentioning. Is there a list ‘animals’ can be added to?
I’ve been bullied on GoodReads over the past 2 days.
It started with a reader going by [redacted] leaving insulting comments on my book release promotion. I will not here that I had never had any contact with this person before that. I messaged [redacted], asking if I had hurt him. He replied no, he must have been drunk!
I deleted the topic, then reposted it. The next day, I saw that [redacted] had left another insulting remark, and had a friend of his leave another comment cheering him on. I reported him, and he was kicked out of the group, [redacted].
Today I noticed that I had been carpted-bombed by a user going by [redacted]. She rated all three of my books at one time, each a 1 star with no review. The URL is here: [redacted] I know she did not read at least one of the books, because it has only been out a short time, and I bought both copies sold!
I am convinced that she was asked to do this by [redacted] or his cohort, an Author I will not name yet.
I’ve reported her to GoodReads. We’ll see what happens.
This needs to stop. It is a malicious act that impacts authors monetarily.
Just thought you would be interested.
Thanks for listening.
Hi,
What do the different columns mean? I get the name, comment and link, but not sure what N, Y and the two different numbers mean. I believe I’m correct that the first set of numbers is number of 1-star ratings?
Thank you for pointing that out! Whoever updated this page recently forgot to include the column headers.
It carpet bombs some authors
There is a petition going round on Face Book about Amazon’s current policy on blocking authors from reviewing other authors books. Sign it and keep it going as this is also another form of carpet bombing and direct bullying – there is a law to prevent this.
As soon as we get a link to it, we will post it on our sidebar.
