This just in. Another GR carpet-bomber named has been found and by the looks of it, is a sock account created by a bully to one-star books:
We encourage all our readers to report this account to GR.
We’ve been tipped off about another sock account on GR whose sole purpose is to be used for carpet bombing. We encourage all of our readers to report this account to GR management.
Poor, poor Linda. She’s really been going through a rough time lately, hasn’t she? Not only was she kicked out of Goodreads for her bullying behavior, she just recently had carpet-bombed to oblivion:
If you want to see firsthand the damage, just take a look at :
Now, we don’t know who did this, but we do know exactly why they did it:
The carpet-bombers apparently took offense at this and showed her exactly what it’s like to be “punished”.
Ironic, isn’t it?
As for Linda, all we have to say is:
Careful what you wish for!
Not surprisingly, we’ve found another sock account on GR created back in September, just like the sock account “Gillian Walsh”, dedicated solely to carpet-bombing books. We’ve included in our Carpet Bomber’s Series as #14, and wait until you see how many carpet-bombs she has! 1111!
Just like Gillian Walsh and Nikki, Hihi hasn’t connected with any friends for nine months, yet consistently carpet-bombs books on GR:
If you take a look at , one-star ratings is all you’ll see:
As we did with Gillian and Nikki, we are reporting this fake account to GR as well and we invite our readers to do the same.
Big surprise! We’ve found yet another sock account that was created for the sole purpose of carpet bombing books. In our last Carpet Bombers post, Carpet Bomber #12, Gillian Walsh, we showed you how it is we know that these accounts are fake and this one, , is exactly the same. But before we begin, we want to answer the question as to why we even started our Carpet Bombers series in the first place and why we bring attention to accounts that leave fake one-star ratings and reviews on books. The reason is simple. Because this kind of activity undermines the integrity of review databases and of online reviewing as a whole. It’s a despicable practice that we hope someday will be eradicated from sites like Goodreads and Amazon. Until then, we will keep blogging about it until something is done.
Just like the last Carpet Bombers post, this account has an empty profile with no picture and an extremely low average rating, 1.30. It also has a huge number of one-star carpet bombs, 511 to be exact:
This account was created in August of 2013 and yet “Nikki” hasn’t connected with any friends yet:
Tinally, her shelves consist mostly of one-star ratings:
So, again, we ask our readers to join us in reporting these fake accounts so we can help clean up the GR database.
As part of our Carpet Bombers Series, whenever we find a carpet bomber, we report it to our readers and to GR. Why do we do this? Because we care about Goodreads. We don’t want to see the site destroyed. We’ve never wanted that. We’ve always wanted to see the site improve and this one, this Gillian Walsh, we’re pretty sure is a sock account created to one-star books. So we are reporting it on our blog and we are also reporting it to GR.
How do we know it’s a sock? Check out her empty profile with no picture that has an average rating of 1.42 and a whopping 674 carpet bombs:
Also, she’s been a member since September of 2013, the month that Goodreads announced their anti-bullying policy (coincidence? yeah, right), and she hasn’t connected with any friends yet:
And if you go to , you’ll see that they are filled primarily with one-star carpet bombs:
So, let’s all report this sock to Goodreads and be rid of these accounts that corrupt the database.
A blog reader just recently reminded us of a carpet bomber we haven’t yet featured in our Carpet Bombers series. That would be :
Notice a familiar evil queen among her friends?
You will remember Khanh. She was one of Evil Queen Shelby’s flying monkeys in our four part series, Once Upon a Time in the Land of BookLikes, who dropped her one-star carpet bomb on author Gavin Hetherington’s book when Shelby threw a fit and sent her court of trolls after him. Khanh is also currently flouting Goodreads anti-bullying policy with her “asshat” shelf upon which she just recently placed a book by an author she and her friends are targeting:
In addition, she has literally . She clocks in at a whopping 387 one-star ratings:
We managed to get a few screenshots and what we’ve managed to record is far from exhaustive. Khanh is an extremely prolific one-star carpet-bomber:
Khanh Destroyer of Dreams is a fitting name for her. We’ll say again what we’ve said before. STAY AWAY from people like this! Whenever you see a name that suggests that someone is a bully, turn around, run, and don’t look back. And definitely give this bully a wide berth.
Number 9 of our Carpet Bombers Series.
We were just recently tipped off by a blog reader:
To this ridiculous article in the Washington post:
Aw, what nice bullshit the WP has to say about Nenia. Good thing we have the facts, because now, we’re going to tell you the truth about this “no. 1 reviewer”.
First of all, she considers herself a “Proud Member of the Meanie Brigade”:
Second, back in the heyday of bullies, when they were allowed to roam free and wreak havoc on authors and other readers on Goodreads, Nenia was one the leaders and moderators of the Badly Behaving Authors group. This was a group of GR trolls who relished in unleashing organized attacks on authors and readers they considered to be “badly behaving”. In September of 2013, this group was hidden from public view when Goodreads announced their new anti-bullying policy which stated that GR members could no longer talk about author behavior in reviews and shelves. If they did, those reviews and shelves would be removed. In other words, author-bashing was no longer going to be tolerated on the site.
And how did Nenia react?
Well… first she flipped off Goodreads:
Then, she threatened to one-star books written by authors she assumed were behind our site (even though we have stated time and again that we ARE NOT authors) if her stgrb-supporter shelf was removed:
And guess what happened?
Yep, that’s right. Her shelf was removed:
And of course, she made good on her threat and went on a carpet-bombing spree. At the time, we managed to get a few screenshots. Notice some of the author-bashing shelves on the left-hand side:
When she threw a tantrum and protested to GR, she got thoroughly spanked:
So, despite what is said about her in the WP article, this is the real Nenia. A vicious cyber-bully who carpet bombs other authors’ books without reading them either because she doesn’t like the author or she is protesting a policy change on Goodreads. If she really does consider reviewing to be her job, then we’d have to say she isn’t doing an honest job, nor does she act much like a professional.
Nenia Campbell, no. 1 professional Goodreads reviewer?
No.
Nenia Campbell, no. 1 unprofessional Goodreads bully?
Yes.
Well, it looks like we have a brand spankin’ new carpet bomber who unfortunately thinks that she can actually make a dent in Anne’s ratings with her one stars. Here is her profile:
And her most recent carpet bombs.
We think she may be a sock so we are currently reporting her account to GR. If any of you feel the need to do the same, be our guest.
Before we get to Old Rocker, who was originally on our sidebar for being an AFT, we want to share the following with our readers. We were tipped off to this feedback discussion on Goodreads created by a GR member who is now gone from the site:
In response, a GR member named Jenny attempted to shed light on the subject:
But as you may have guessed, unfortunately, the thread was hijacked by the trolls who spewed their nonsense and created 12 pages of hateful invective. So, let this be a warning. Tread carefully in the Goodreads feedback discussions. The trolls stalk those threads like there’s no tomorrow and if you post a comment they don’t like, they will come at you hard. You see, there is a reason Goodreads in the Goodreads feedback discussions and not site-wide. Because they knew that the small group of users it would affect (i.e. the GR bullies) would see it there. The majority of GR users don’t care. As PG said in one of his posts, he “doesn’t think the vast majority of Goodreads users are terribly upset about a few offensive items being removed from the site. Most have not even noticed anything.” We tend agree with him.
Now, as for the recent barrage of one-star ratings, we’ve heard from several sources that the appeals to Amazon and GR staff are working. The carpet bombs seem to be disappearing. However, if you feel that your books have not been cleaned of the crap left on them by the angry dung beetles and you’ve already contacted Amazon/GR about it, some information from another anon might help you:
Goodreads is located in California. I recommend reporting them to the California Attorney General for fraudulent business activity:
As for Amazon, it’s headquarters are in Washington. Here is the website for reporting Amazon:
Now, remember from that particular post, we showed you an attorney left a comment on Anne R. Allen’s blog, stating that customer reviews are a form of ‘endorsements’ or ‘testimonials’ and that:
“SELLERS HAVE AN AFFIRMATIVE DUTY TO ENSURE ANY CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL THEY USE TO SELL PRODUCTS IS TRUE.”
If you find that Amazon/GR isn’t listening to your request to have false one-star ratings removed from your book(s), you may want to contact the offices of both California’s and Washinton’s Attorney General to report the fraud. Or seek the services of an attorney. Or both.
Now, for carpet bomber #7 of our Carpet Bombers Series, we want to show you some of the shots we got of and bookshelves before the carpet bombs were removed.
If you take a look at Old Rocker’s book shelves now, this is what you will see:
We hope this trend continues.

An addendum.
I forgot to add to the post above. Now that Rick Coke Monkey is no longer in , we feel it is safe again for authors to join (or rejoin) the group. There is also a link on our sidebar.
