Tag Archive: GR Bully

Well, we can’t say we’re surprised, but the notorious bully who’s been trolling the internet for over a decade, Ginmar, was finally banned from Goodreads.  If you click on her profile link, she is no longer there:

Why?  Well, you all remember Ginmar’s Bully Review of a book by an author she has been attacking lately, right?  Just recently, she did the same thing with another book (same series) by this author:

GinmarsSecondBullyReview

When this was reported to GR for violating TOS, management contacted her about the review and what did she do?  She wrote another review:

GinmarsThirdBullyReview

This review of course was reported again, so she decided it wasn’t worth it, but hoping no one would notice, left her author-bashing shelves as they were:

GinmarsFourthBullyReview

When this was reported again, GR said, “Bye, bye, Ginmar!”

So, let this be a lesson to all the trolls.  You cannot do whatever you want, because if you do, you will end up getting banned.

We here at STGRB are just glad to see Goodreads and Amazon enforcing their TOS and finally taking action against the bullies.

We are happy to announce that Goodreads has recently gotten a little bit safer for it’s authors and readers.  Notorious bully, Jennifer:

Is no longer there.  Why?  Because GR removed the “not interested” button on sponsored books (Dammit!) *sarcasm*

Hmm… *scratches chin*

Well, perhaps for Jennifer that was just the last straw in a whole list of policy changes that GR has made this past year, many of which appear to be taking more and more power away from the bullies.

Good news, everyone!  Notorious bully, Mahala (aka Spare Ammo and 38 Calibre Reviews), has gotten booted off GR!  If you click the link below, you will see she’s completely gone:

We’ve published several posts that included news of her bullying.  Here, we will show you what she’s done recently to someone in the Amazon fora, doxxing his mother’s phone number (we left the first number to prove she actually posted it):

Mahala2

And here she threatens to call her:

Mahala

Oh also, she admits to targeting self-published authors in particular as you can see in the title of her blog:

TargetingSelfPublishedAuthors

So, now all Goodreads members can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing this bully is gone.

This just in.  Another bully was banned from Goodreads.

ScarlettsWebBannedFromGR

Each time we hear of a bully being banned, we will report it to let our readers know that GR is slowly getting safer.  It hasn’t yet met our standards for author-friendliness, but it’s getting closer.

This just in from Anon:

Another bully got the boot. Linda Hilton was deleted from Goodreads. Congrats, STGRB, you do a good job to make the world a better place. One bully down, more to go.

Linda has been one of the more aggressive bullies, attacking other authors online, condemning them for five-starring their own books, while at the same time doing the same to hers.  She’s part of the Dear Author crowd and has been involved in multiple online attacks of authors, if not leading them herself.  Her absence from GR is a huge relief.

We just received this link from a reader.  It’s from Linda’s BookLikes page.  Here’s a screenshot:

TheBanHammer

Be careful reading the comments below her post.  They may cause you to hurl violently.  Typical bully whining and rationalizing as to why they keep getting banned.

You’ve heard us say that many of the GR/Booklikes bullies are themselves authors.  Well, today’s post is a perfect example of that.  You will all remember Litchick as one of the GR bully ringleaders, who was also one of the more outspoken protestors of GR’s anti-bullying policy put into place last year.  We’ve just recently discovered that she is an author who writes books under the name of Navessa Allen:

LitchickNavessaAllen

She is also a :

When we discovered this fact, it didn’t surprise us in the slightest.  It is a strange phenomenon, we’re finding, but many authors will either become bullies or engage in bullying behavior for their own self-interest, either to curry favor, damage the reputation and sales of their competition, and/or promote their own work.

We find this behavior deplorable and urge everyone, especially authors, to steer clear of  it and anyone who engages in it.

JennyJen Deleted from GR

This news is a little late in coming since this happened back in August of this year, but to everyone’s great relief, megatroll JennyJen has gotten the axe from Goodreads.  You will all remember JennyJen as Carpet Bomber #5 of our Carpet Bombers series and as one of the nastier trolls who hypocritically targets and bullies others online, be it author or reader.

Here is the confirmation screenshot we got:

JennyJen

And if you click on the link to her profile, you’ll see it no longer works:

Troll deletions on GR appear to be happening more and more:

Here’s the interesting part.  Instead of realizing that it’s their behavior that’s getting them kicked, they begin to speculate and make up theories as to why this keeps happening to them:

In our humble opinion, we think Goodreads still has a long way to go.  However, we are glad to see the trolls slowly but surely being removed from the site.  We hope this trend doesn’t just continue, but increases in speed.

Only time will tell.

Professional jealousy is a topic that has been brought up several times on our blog in reference to some of the bullies.  These are the bullies in our lists who are not just readers, but also authors who seek out other authors to harass, threaten, bully, and otherwise destroy their careers.  Namely, these are authors like LH, AH, AS, etc.  They are the ones who’ve bullied other, more successful authors like Jamie McGuire, Jessica Park, Amanda Hocking, EL James, Anne Rice, etc.  More than once, our blog readers have made the comment that professional jealousy plays a HUGE role in this bullying and we at STGRB have to agree.  However, we’ve never shown you actual proof of this fact until today.

Now, ever since Jenny Trout was banned from Anne Rice’s blog a few weeks ago, we’ve been keeping a close eye on her blog.  If you all don’t remember that wonderful episode, we covered it in Anne Rice Bans the Bullies.  Basically, Anne left a link on her Facebook page to our blog post covering Carpet Bomber #9, Nenia Campbell.  Upon hearing of this, Jenny Trout, along with several other of her bully friends, hopped on over to Anne’s Facebook page, harassed her, and tried to get her to believe lies about about our website in order to discourage her from supporting us.  Anne, being the intelligent woman that she is, saw through their nonsense and did what all victims should do when they are under a bully attack.  She deleted their comments and banned them all from her page, including Jenny.

Now, in Jenny’s recent blog rant on author Anna Todd and Anna’s immensely successful book, After, Jenny Trout not only harshly criticizes Anna’s book (or more appropriately, her manuscript) for very minor, very fixable problems, she insults Anna personally, coming very close to calling her a plagiarist.  Then, Jenny admits to being jealous and tells her readers why.

Hmm… okay.  Here’s a secret that one of our oldest and wisest blog readers shared with us: you don’t have to write like Shakespeare to tell a compelling story.  Because that’s what readers care about.  THE STORY.  It doesn’t really matter if there are a few punctuation or grammatical errors in the manuscript, readers want a good story.  And there are authors out there who tell compelling stories and their voices resonate with large audiences.  No one really knows how or why.  It just happens like that sometimes.

In Anna’s case, she wrote a compelling story she loved and she shared it with her friends on Wattpad.  It resonated with A LOT of people.  She did it ON HER OWN and built HER OWN author platform.  That’s the kind of thing publishers like to see and capitalize on and they do.  Does it matter that Anna’s story was similar to another that we know?  No.  There’s a phrase that comes to mind — there’s nothing new under the sun.  Ideas and story elements get recycled.  It happens.  Sometimes when it does, the story catches on and acquires a large readership.  And this is what happened with Anna’s book.

It also helps that Anna Todd is a really cool person.  She has a lot of online friends and followers.  She’s not a bully or a condescending grandmother type who pats people on the head and murmurs, “Oh, my sweet, summer child.”  She doesn’t write jealous, disgruntled blog posts bitching about other people’s success.  And we’re pretty sure she’s never been banned from Anne Rice’s Facebook page, or anyone’s Facebook page for that matter.

So, Jenny, here’s our advice: GET OVER IT.  STOP comparing yourself to other people and their career success.  Down that path lies madness.  If you go down that road, the ugly green monster of envy will consume you.  START focusing on yourself, your writing, and your career successes no matter how small they are.  Whether it’s an email from a favorite fan or the sale of a new book, any success you have should be celebrated.  Because really, it doesn’t matter how successful you end up being, there will always be someone who is more successful than you and who’s chosen a path to success that you, in all your wisdom *rolls eyes*, don’t approve of.

So, what are you going to do?  Constantly bitch and moan about other people’s success and sit in your corner of the room with your arms crossed and a scowl on your face?  OR are you going to be an adult and choose to be happy with yourself and your life and your own success regardless of others who are doing better than you?

It’s your life, your happiness, and your decision.

Make it a good one.

************************************************************************************

P.S. If you think Jenny’s post was bad, the comments on her post are even worse.  The professional jealousy in all of them is VERY apparent:

This just in.

AmaranthLeavingGR

Those who have been tormented and carpet-bombed by her can now breathe a sigh of relief. Goodreads is getting better everyday.

A blog reader just recently reminded us of a carpet bomber we haven’t yet featured in our Carpet Bombers series.  That would be :

KhanhsProfile

Notice a familiar evil queen among her friends?

KhanhsFriends

You will remember Khanh.  She was one of Evil Queen Shelby’s flying monkeys in our four part series, Once Upon a Time in the Land of BookLikes, who dropped her one-star carpet bomb on author Gavin Hetherington’s book when Shelby threw a fit and sent her court of trolls after him.  Khanh is also currently flouting Goodreads anti-bullying policy with her “asshat” shelf upon which she just recently placed a book by an author she and her friends are targeting:

AsshatShelf

In addition, she has literally .  She clocks in at a whopping 387 one-star ratings:

387CarpetBombs

We managed to get a few screenshots and what we’ve managed to record is far from exhaustive.  Khanh is an extremely prolific one-star carpet-bomber:

Khanh Destroyer of Dreams is a fitting name for her.  We’ll say again what we’ve said before.  STAY AWAY from people like this!  Whenever you see a name that suggests that someone is a bully, turn around, run, and don’t look back.  And definitely give this bully a wide berth.
