One of our blog readers just recently tipped us off to a great website that supports self-pubbed authors. It’s called Self-Published Authors Helping Other Authors:

We were particularly please with a post written last month by Rami Ungar titled When Trolls Attack:

This website is also helping out in the effort to fight online trolling. Rami says:

And he provides five guidelines for other authors when they experience this nastiness online. You will notice that Rami’s five steps are very similar to our page of Do’s and Don’t’s For Victims, like don’t #1, don’t panic:

And do #2 and 3, document everything and take screenshots:

And do #5, let GR or Amazon know:

And do #7, report them to the proper authorities:

As in the case with Avery Duncan and the author she stalked and harassed, the victim reported it to the police and Avery was given a warning.
The last guideline Rami lists is something we only recommend if you can stomach the trolls and their filth. If not, then it’s best to speak out about what happened to you in a private support group. Otherwise:

Thank you, Rami, for doing your part. We really appreciate it! And we love the pic you posted of the forum troll. For those who can’t read the captions in the screenshot, here is a larger version:
