Jane Litte Comes Clean

Well, it appears as though Jane Litte of Dear Author has agreed to settle the case with Ellora’s Cave.  In a recent post, she has come clean on the falsities that she published on September 14 (not 16), 2014.  She says:

JaneLitteComesClean

We’re glad to see her finally doing the right thing and hope that this will be a good lesson learned for her and others who relish in libeling others and/or smearing their reputations online for fun or personal gain.

Today, we are publishing a guest post given to us by an anonymous blog reader who has done quite a bit of research into Jane Litte and her true motives for libeling Ellora’s Cave.  What we find striking about the information presented below is how much money Jane was making as a lawyer, as the owner of DA, and as an author, and yet she still had the audacity to ask for money for the lawsuit.  The information below also proves another point that one of our blog readers put so well:

Honestly, I think the focus should be on the fact that the lawsuit was not an attempt to silence a “small blogger” but something that was building towards for the last ten years, while JL was trashing EC and other publishers, she was also promoting her own work and publisher. Instead of building her own readership/business, she was stealing it in a sense from EC primarily, but other publishers as well. A little research and SS of DA blog posts aimed at other publishing houses, will reveal just how she manipulated her position on DA, to scandalize EC.

It seemed to be a pattern for her. I think that can be proved. I bet no one really put 2 and 2 together, because she kept her author persona, hidden. Why? Because she knew exactly what she was doing, stealing from EC’s success, which unfortunately worked and did cause a drop in sales for them.

It’s mind boggling. All these poor readers who refused to buy EC books because she dished all their “dirty laundry” which was really not very dirty, but DA MADE it appear that way.

These readers of DA, who blindly believed her half-ass articles and gave to her lawsuit fund, when she had several different sources of income rolling in and making 3 times as much as the average reader of her blog.

That’s the real issue, as well as the fact this suit was a very long time coming. People need to decide for themselves who is in the wrong here. Who is most desperate to make money? Remember, EC IS a multi-million dollar company, and that was no secret.

What really irks me is that she suckered her readers and took full advantage of people who genuinely cared about what she had to report and about her, the poor little blogger who was getting bullied by a big corporation–yeah right!

After the following guest post, we will show you evidence that Jane’s husband was the owner of her publishing company, a company in direct competition with Ellora’s Cave.  And we will show you screenshots of Jane trying to cover this up.

More Jane Litte/Jen Frederick/ Jennifer Gerrish Lampe hypocrisy.

On December 30, 2014 Jane made the following blog post:

http://dearauthor.com/blog/page/57/

Dec 30, 2014:

Books have long been my refuge from the crazy, ugly real… Jane Essays 60 Comments

“It was also a year in which women were under attack. From being referred to as “binders full of women” to the horrific display of misogyny toward female gamers and gaming developers, the online community seemed especially vile. And it spilled over into the book community with regular ad hominem attacks being lobbed at readers for their reading choices, which had little to do with the books themselves for many times the critics hadn’t even read the books in question. Instead the ad hominem attacks had more to do with the fact that the online discussion wasn’t about the books they felt were stronger, better, worthier than these lesser ones being elevated and praised. Or it was authors who felt that readers didn’t appreciate or understand their work OR worse, assumed that the reader who didn’t like their work had a secret, evil agenda to bring that author down.”

I know she said this to convince those who are all about feminism and the first amendment and all that is sacred, blah blah blah…

But then here is information about her attorney:

https://randazza.wordpress.com/2012/03/02/did-rush-limbaugh-defame-sandra-fluke/

Read in his own words why Rush Limbaugh calling Sandra Fluke a slut is not defamation. Read the comments. A true feminist would find this intolerable.

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/09/24/us/victims-push-laws-to-end-online-revenge-posts.html?_r=0

“Not everyone agrees that criminalizing revenge porn is the best strategy. Marc Randazza, a Nevada lawyer who represents plaintiffs against yougotposted, says that he thinks civil remedies are preferable.

“As horrible as I think people are who do this,” he said, “do we really need another law to put more people in jail in the United States?””

Now we all know that Revenge Porn is mostly aimed at women. It shouldn’t be criminal? Probably because then the state would pay to prosecute and that isn’t how Randazza makes his money.

And check this one out:

Mad Men: Inside the Men’s Rights Movement—and the Army of Misogynists and Trolls It Spawned

How did an ex-feminist once hailed by Gloria Steinem become a hero of the haters?

—By Mariah Blake

January/February 2015 Issue

“An opinion piece on cnn.com by Marc Randazza, a First Amendment lawyer who has spoken up for Rush Limbaugh, violent video games, and the pornography industry, suggested that A Voice for Men had endured protests and threats simply because it had the “audacity to question certain issues from a man’s perspective.””

I read the article on cnn (there is a link). He does make a decent argument, after all, he’s an attorney. But it is out of context in a feminist sense. While he makes a believable and legitimate argument, for anyone who has suffered from domestic violence or rape, it really doesn’t matter what the trigger was. This guy knocked her out and is an NFL player for shit sake. But decide for yourself.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/31/opinion/randazza-ray-rice-fiancee/index.html

I just don’t personally feel that a feminist who is so sad about all the misogyny would hire this guy. Except to both of them the ends justifies the means. Jane made that obvious during her recent “coming -out -earlier -than –expected – but -you -should -praise -me -for -being -soooo -successful – even- if- I –did- lie- and -cheat -to –get- there”-blog post. I don’t think it would have come out until she was absolutely sure the repercussions could never hurt her financially. But regardless she need not refer to herself as a feminist. I’m not saying he is a bad attorney – actually he is a very good and expensive attorney. But a true feminist just wouldn’t hire him. It is hypocritical.

Jane does NOT just publish NA. It is erotic romance and so IS a direct competitor of Ellora’s Cave:

http://missmepassionate.com/2013/12/04/blogmas-4-tour-stop-last-hit-jessica-clare-jen-frederick/

This link came from Jen Frederick blog tour website – I just tried it, but it seems to be gone all of a sudden or maybe it is my computer. I forget which book they took this from:

“But you have so much cum. Sometimes I can’t swallow it all. Sometimes it spills out the side of my mouth and dribbles onto my chin.”

“I get wet thinking about you,” she whispers. Her legs shift restlessly under me. I know what she wants. She wants my tongue. My fingers. My cock. And she’ll have it all.

I’m too horny right now to lick her slowly. I need to feel her orgasm all over my face, to have her thighs clench my head in a vise grip, like nothing is ever going to separate the two of us.

I’m going to come all over her belly if I don’t get a handle on things. And while I seriously enjoy seeing her warm skin dotted with streaks of my milky cum, I want to be inside her and feel her pussy walls convulse around me.”

That is NOT mainstream NA.

In November 2007, Jane wrote a four part series on dearauthor.com about defamation. It reads to me as a warning to anyone that she knows exactly what she can do not to step over the fine line from opinion to defamation and she need only do the minimum and then play innocent. Again, that is my opinion. You can find it on Dear Author keyword search “defamation”.

Jane and Sarah Wendell are partners in the LLC To Be Read, which is registered in New Jersey. Sarah is far from the “innocent friend”. Numerous people have said that Sarah Wendell was not in business with Jane/Jen the same time she was a publicist for authors. That is not true. According to SBTB Sarah says she stopped in 2012. The podcast LLC, To Be Read was filed in 2010 and both Sarah and Jane are owners of the LLC. The paperwork is here:

This is where you can look it up.

https://www.njportal.com/DOR/BusinessNameSearch/default.aspx

There is a small charge if you look it up, so I included it.

Again, that is public record: http://iowa-employees.findthedata.com/l/59898/Jennifer-S-Gerrish-lampe

Jennifer S Gerrish-lampeDeputy Workers Comp Comm
Jennifer S Gerrish-lampe is a Deputy Workers Comp Comm with the Workforce Development in Polk county. Gerrish-lampe has a salary of $112,067, which is 130% more than the average for all Workforce Development employees as of 2012.

So her salary (in 2012) is $112,067 as a commissioner for Worker’s Comp in Iowa. According to her counter complaint in Federal Court, she makes a minimum of $75,000 from the Dear Author Blog. She didn’t state what she makes from the podcast, but she is also a bestselling author and says she has a movie deal.

None of that was disclosed when Sarah took up the charity at her request.

Jane actually doxxed herself as Jennifer Gerrish-Lampe way back in 2007 and then took it down. But it was up there long enough and at the time there was a battle with Computer Colonics a blog by Cindy Cruciger. I can’t find earlier than 2011 on there now, but the following gives reference to it.

A little Jane Litte trivia: One of the partners at the personal injury/malpractice firm she worked at – well, his first name is, you guessed it – Frederick. Again – on the internet:

Very Interesting….

Jane said that Ellora’s Cave made less in 2010 than in 2006.

“Yet something strange happened. Growth stagnated. In 2010, it was revealed that EC’s revenues were $5 million but a reported $6.7 million in 2006. How on earth was a digital publisher’s income declining in the biggest boom period of digital books? (This was before self publishing took off).”

The article was written in Feb 2010, so, unless the woman is a psychic, she would have no way of knowing what the income was in 2010 and EC is not a digital only publisher.

In 2006, Borders was in full swing with erotic romance. In the meantime, Engler boasts of her Rodeo Drive shopping trips and her new property purchase in West Hollywood on her Facebook page.

Where? I can find on her facebook where she said she was on Rodeo Drive. That in no way indicated she was on a single “high end shopping spree” let alone more than one.

Tina did not purchase any property in West Hollywood or anywhere in California. Since real estate purchases are public record, that would have been very easy for her to NOT FIND. Tina said she got the house she wanted. In Los Angeles rental property is hard to find because IT IS CHEAPER TO RENT IN LOS ANGELES THAN IT IS TO BUY!!!!

http://la.curbed.com/archives/2014/04/los_angeles_is_in_a_rental_crisis.php

Partial work that is completed should be sent in to be finished by an in house editor and no partial work will be paid for.
Failure to turn in either partial work or finished work will result in a 25% deduction of overall payment for that project.

This is just plain stupid. If no partial work is being paid for and if work isn’t turned in at all, of course it isn’t paid for. How can you take 25% of nothing???

A report from Ohio business record places Ellora’s Cave revenues at $15 million last year. So why is it that tax liens go unpaid as well as the salaries or royalties of creative individuals? It is unknown but it sounds like the money is being mismanaged at best and improperly diverted at worst.

This is absolutely a lie. Since Jane’s article was written in 2014, this refers to 2013. This is another case of Jane taking something out of context from an article that was written in the same year she is saying EC made the money.

http://www.ohio.com/news/top-stories/mother-and-daughter-make-a-fortune-selling-erotic-novels-1.420106

Note: This article was released in August 2013, which means the interview probably took place in June or July. This time she didn’t even put in the link she was referring to because she knew damn well it was a lie and didn’t want anyone finding it.

Ellora’s Cave is supposed to pay monthly but even after this email went out, several authors report still not receiving their royalty payments or receiving lower than normal royalty payments. Purportedly Ellora’s Cave is hoping that the signing of celebrity authors like Farrah Abraham of Teen Mom and the James Deen sex tape is going to save their ship.

Truth – Ellora’s Cave contracts do not say that they are supposed to pay monthly. Marks made no bones about talking about the declining sales and thus declining royalties in a private business loop post. If sales are declining, royalty payments go down. And, in 2013 Farrah Abraham posted on Twitter or somewhere that she wanted to write an erotic romance. Ellora’s Cave contacted her and she agreed. So what. Don’t publishers do that kind of thing?

In a previous blog post, when she was discussing some issue with rights reversions with Samhain Publishing. While it was about Samhain, she had to throw in EC as worse.

http://dearauthor.com/ebooks/digital-first-publishing-troubled-fortunes-digital-first-publishers/

Samhain doesn’t have money problems. From all accounts, the company is still flush but experiencing some downturn in sales. No, the complaints about Samhain have to do with author contacts and contract terms. These more restrictive terms seem inspired to keep more rights within the company.

Did Jane even look in to this? Public record:

http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/pls/bsqry/f?p=100:12:0::NO:12:P12_FIN_NUM:OH00177488721

FianancingStatement

http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/reports/rwservlet?imgu&Din=201418102082

This may mean nothing, but if there are no money problem, why was everything (and it appears to be even the author contracts) put up for collateral for a loan which was received just one month after Jane made this statement?

Samhain downturn in sales is just downturn in sales. Ellora’s Cave’s downturn in sales means they must be lying to their authors.  Years back when Angela James was still with Samhain, Jane, Sarah and Angela shared rooms at RT, I believe. I forget whose blog that was on.

What does Ellora’s Cave have to gain by being (not so good apparently because Jane has it all figured out) underhanded? Think about it. Certainly not Ellora’s Cave or the employees of Ellora’s Cave. Who really has to gain if Ellora’s Cave goes down?

Well, if Ellora’s Cave goes down, there are thousands of already edited books that could go straight to KDP or other publishers.
Speaking of other publishers. Berkley has all but the first eight or so Breed Series books by the #1 NYT Bestselling author Lora Leigh. I wouldn’t doubt they would like to have the rest. NYT Bestselling author Joanna Wylde’s hugely selling Reaper motorcycle series, Ellora’s Cave published the first one of those titles? And it wouldn’t be unlikely that Cindy Hwang would go heavy after Laurann Dohner’s NYT bestselling New Species series. These titles have definite monetary value to any publisher, not just Ellora’s Cave. Also, Jane/Jen has been in the proverbial bed with Cindy Hwang for years. If you keyword search the blog posts, you just look at how many times Cindy Hwang and Berkley are mentioned. Penguin has been sponsoring her and Sarah Wendell’s podcast for years (Berkley, Intermix, Signet and so on – they are all connected). Cindy Hwang let Jane be an editor for that Agony and Ecstasy anthology that was not extremely successful (being kind). In http://dearauthor.com/page/2/?s=tina+Engler, Tina commented in the comments section:

I am no longer under contract with Berkley. (No dramatic parting of ways; just one of those things where I got a better deal elsewhere.) My loyalties lie with EC & Pocketbooks so this is where I choose to write.

Could this have ticked someone off? After all, from 2005 on Penguin (Berkley, Signet, Random House, whoever) has been going hot and heavy after successful Ellora’s Cave authors. Not to blame Berkley – that’s business. Could Jane have been avenging her benefactor or could there be monetary reward (editor gig, sponsorships, book contract) for Jane scaring authors away by trashing Ellora’s Cave (and a couple of others) and trying to help squash the competition? After all, some of Ellora’s Cave discovered authors have brought millions in revenues to Berkley/Random House. Just a thought, but money can be a motivator.

Jane, as Jen Frederick, was published by Pear Tree LLC., a publishing company owned by her husband, and thus by her, and a publishing company that is in direct competition with Ellora’s Cave:

PearTreeLLC

W00831537

Below, you will see how Jane tried to cover up the fact that her books were published by Pear Tree LLC by changing the publisher on her book pages to her pen name:

JanePearTree

JaneHidesPublisher

As far as we’re concerned, covering your tracks like that is an admission of guilt.  She has been deceiving people for years and now all of this information is coming to light.  What a tangled web indeed!

PG’s Post on Jane/Jen

One last post we’d like to share with you (besides AA’s) regarding Jane as Jen, is the guest post PG published on his blog this past week.  The author of this article makes two excellent points, again points that we missed in our original article, and we’d like to share them with our readers.

PGGuestPost

PGGuestPost2

We’d have to say that one big mistake this author is making is that she assumes Jane had good intentions and didn’t mean to do any harm.  We’ve seen enough of Jane’s behavior to know better (see Why Jane Litte Was Banned from RWA, JS Cooper vs. Jane Litte, Beautiful Blunder, Dear Author Strikes Again, Jane Litte Defends Violent Readers, and Twitter Attack on Nathan Bransford).

But, to each her own.

For anyone who hasn’t read it yet, we wanted to share this .  AA’s sentiments on this whole fiasco are shared by many of our readers and they are points we overlooked in our original article on Jane as Jen.

AAOnJane

Thank you, AA, for your blog!

Well, well, well.  Wouldn’t you just know it.  The Godmother of the bullies, well-known for being much too free with her tongue and libeling authors and publishers alike on her blog, in fact libeling them to the point of pushing them into lawsuits against her, Jane Litte, or in real life known as Jennifer Gerrish-Lampe:

Jennifer

has yet another pen name, as she reveals in her latest DA post, A Letter to the DA Readership:

Jane1

Jane2

We know that many of you, as you read the words above, will hear, “Bullshit, bullshit,” going through your mind and you are exactly right to think it.  Jane’s explanation is in a word, hogwash.  First, the reason she is revealing this information is because Jaid Black, whom Jane doxxed on her blog:

Dox

was going to go public with this information anyway, so Jane had to have the first jump and give everyone a bullshit explanation for her despicable actions.  Second, Jane wrote under a pen name for one obvious reason, because she feared retaliation from enemies: enemies she’s made from libeling people and enemies she made during #RomFail (See Why Jane Little Was Banned From RWA, in fact, just read our whole collection on Jane here.  You can read about how she defended violent readers and then attacked Nathan Bransford on Twitter and a lot more!)  Finally, Jane has been using her blog to deceitfully promote her own work WITHOUT telling readers that she was the author or one of the authors.  Notice where she says:

I wanted any success I had with the fiction to be built on the merits of the work, not on the blogging platform. I had a couple of awkward moments where I had to keep one of my books from being reviewed on Dear Author, but somehow I managed to keep them completely separate.

This is a blatant lie and it’s easily provable.  For example, here, on a blog post written by her, she promotes her book, Unspoken:

Unspoken

And here, her blog is promoting her book, Last Hit:

LastHit

And again, here, her blog is promoting another one of her books, The Charlotte Chronicles:

CharlotteChronicles

We’d say we’re surprised, but for someone like Jane, we’re really not.  She’s vicious and capable of resorting to anything to put forward her own interests.

Okay, so, for all the bullies out there who are celebrating Jane’s big reveal, you are probably unaware of the implications of it.  Please, read on.  We’ll enlighten you.  In fact, one of our blog readers will enlighten you.  In recent emails, this blog reader said:

I find this shocking and not surprising.  I wonder how many of the Amazon Bullies are in fact authors… who basically use their bully persona to pile on other authors. There we have malicious gossips essentially hiding the fact that they are authors as they pile on other authors from behind their pseudonyms, pretending to be “readers” protecting “readers” from authors. Can you imagine if a major author took a job reviewing books and lecturing authors for the New York Times under a pseudonym? And suddenly you discovered that Columnist X who reviewed books all the time snidely and nastily was in fact a major author hiding behind that pseudonym? When professional book reviewers write books, the books are non fiction generally and are under their real names, the names they use as “critics.” But imagine discovering that a major author was behind constant criticism of authors… The point is…. this is major. A major bully entity who is in fact an author! And the question is how many others are authors? I think STGRB has already outed some on Goodreads. But I hope the significance is played up. These bullies have, in my estimation, put themselves forward as “readers” and “non professionals” and bragged that “authors are paid but we’re not!” as they justify their malice and pettiness and dirty tricks and constant high toned attacks. And now we find out they are actually authors selling a competing product!!!! Authors pretending to be high toned amateur critics trying to protect the public from authors’ bad behavior. How bad can some one’s behavior get? It makes the entire bully bible a lie —- the entire “argument” that this is a war of readers against authors. It calls into question everything. It should be enough to discredit the bully culture and the bully cliques forever. So now we see what is really happening: a clique of lying, cheating authors has been behind this war against honest authors all along. Now we see the desperation to maintain pseudonyms on Amazon! They can’t keep peddling their lies without those pseudonyms! I say it’s time to ask outright: which of you is an author!!! Come clean now!! Enough of the lies and the dirty tricks.

AND NOW WE KNOW this is all a lie. They were authors all along, many of them. Willing to malign “authors” as they hide behind pseudonyms. That this woman would continue with her blog, given that she is an author and a successful one and promote her own work… makes her despicable. After all it is “promotion” by authors that so angers this “reader bully” population. And she has done it for her own book!!!! I think the question has to be asked now of everyone of these people: What is your real name and are you an author?

I think these people must be exposed for  what they’ve done:

1) Essentially try to convince the public that they are vigilant readers, generous with their time and love of books, who are trying to save other readers from “badly behaved authors.”

2)Try to convince the public that authors are irresponsible and childish and need to be policed by “readers.”

3) That there is war on between these “readers” and bad authors.

The headline here is “The bullies have been lying for years. They are actually authors punching down from behind pseudonyms against fellow authors! The whole idea of the vigilant reader asserting her rights is a sham!”

So all the foolishness about “big bad authors” who might hurt reviewers is a lie. They’re authors!!!!!! All the foolishness about reviewers needing pseudonyms to protect them from authors is a lie. They’re authors! In ruthlessly policing what they call “badly behaved authors,” accusing them of fake five star reviews and self promotion, they have lied, lied, lied, about the fact that they themselves are authors! And this Jane person has actually discussed her own work! The entire bully credo is a lie!

Thank you for your words.  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Try Again, Jane

Jane Litte of Dear Author strikes again!  We were just recently tipped off by anon-a-bus in this comment:

I don’t know if you’ve seen it yet, but Jane Litte has a post up that’s out of character even for her this time. She’s now making claims…not alleging…that STGRB is luring reviewers into contests in order to dox them. Mabye I got that wrong. I’m not sure. But you might want to check that out.

Anon-a-bus is right.  Now it seems Jane is spreading the rumor around that we are organizing a group of authors to run contests to obtain readers private information so we can dox them.  In her accusation, she includes a screenshot of Rick’s blog:

JaneLying

The fact that she’s trying to pin this on us is a sign of how desperate she’s getting.

Try again, Jane.  If this is something that involves Rick Coke Monkey, we are definitely not involved.  Rick was banned from our blog a while back, which we talked about in a previous post, denouncing his mission to hack into private accounts and publish people’s information.

You got it wrong again, Jane.  We’d appreciate it if you could stick to the facts.

We’ve received several emails just recently asking us why Jane Litte (the founder of Dear Author) was banned from Romance Writers of America and honestly, this was news to us when we heard about it a year ago.  Fortunately, a couple of our site visitors were there in the days of #RRTheater and #Romfail and remember exactly what happened.  So, we want to share with you anon-a-bus’s comment answering this question:

She was banned for several reasons, one of which was something she did on Twitter a few years ago. For some reason she took a personal dislike to one new small publisher and she started a vicious twitter feed on Friday nights with a name that went something like #RRTheater. She lead a group of people/minions bashing the publisher and authors. Then she expanded and continued bashing and laughing at all erotic romance she didn’t like with another group called #Romfail. Once again, she went on Twitter with her bully minions and they ripped erotic romance books and authors to shreds in public in one of the most vicious ways most people have ever seen. You can do a search for #Romfail and there is information out there. There isn’t as much as there should be because the authors she ripped apart were very new and they didn’t know how to fight back or what to do. They were devastated by what she did, and RWA must have taken notice of it. They gave a specific reason why they were not renewing her membership, but the real reason was Romfail and the way she was creating bad feelings within the romance community.

She is truly one of the most vicious bloggers on this planet, and one of the most unprofessional. She is the bottom of publishing in this day and age. But what’s even more interesting is that she has the nerve to question an author’s identity and she’s not even using her real name as a blogger. No one’s named Jane Litte. She’s an ambulance chaser from Iowa who also has an online presence with her real name. That information is out there, too, with quick searches. I don’t think it’s considered doc-dropping when it’s mentioned in a NYT article.

Anon-a-bus is absolutely right when she says that Jane has no business accusing another person of being a “fake” when her internet persona, Jane Litte, is a fake itself.  And she has no business acting as if she is some sort of authority in the publishing world (sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong) when she is considered by many to be one of the worst bottom-feeders.

So, watch out for this one, everyone!  There’s a reason she’s on our Biggest Offenders list.  As one of our blog readers said, she’s a nasty piece of work.

Well, apparently, the notorious online social manipulator and self-appointed author policewoman, Jane Litte, has struck again.  We just received this email from Anon:

Anon1

As for J.S. Cooper’s FB post, it can be found :

JSCooper1

JSCooper2

And Jane’s original email :

JanesMessage

To read Dear Author’s twitter, go .

So, Anon says further:

Anon2

Anon3

Anon4

“Let the badly behaving Goodreaders and the troll bloggers

of the world keep themselves busy discussing how important their

opinions are.  The rest of us will spend our time selling books.”

Very well said!

On a side note, we wanted to share a couple other messages we received from visitors regarding the Badly Behaving Goodreaders, troll bloggers and the Amazon fora trolls:

GoodreadsHorrible

Winter

And Jane and her ilk are right there among the worst of the worst.  Here is an example of one of them on DA saying how she actually approached an author to solicit a response from her about a nasty book review one of the DA reviewers wrote.  She did it just to bait the author into a fight:

GettingAuthorInvolved

So keep a sharp eye when you’re out there in cyberspace.  These trolls are usually lurking in the shadows somewhere just waiting to pounce.

Now, as for the dust-up between Jane and J.S. Cooper, Anon is absolutely right and this isn’t the first time Jane has crossed the line with her audacious behavior, believing she is some kind of authority with jurisdiction all over the publishing world.  There is a reason she has been blocked on Goodreads, Twitter, and Facebook by so many authors.  It’s the same reason she is on our Biggest Offenders list.  She is a very well-known cyber-bully.

And we’ve given plenty of examples of this.  Here’s another one.  You all remember Amazon’s Beautiful Disaster emails that were sent out back in March and how Jane started the false rumor (by publishing it on her Dear Author blog) that Jamie McGuire used song lyrics without the band’s permission?  If you don’t remember that, see our post Beautiful Blunder: Dear Author Strikes Again.  You can also visit The Passive Voice where PG covers the incident as well.  If you take a look at some of the comments on PG’s post, you will see that a few of his visitors were able to see through Jane’s smoke and mirrors right to her malicious agenda of character assassination on an author she doesn’t like.  Here is one:

Jesse

So, J.S. Cooper, if you’re reading this.  You’re not alone.  Not by far.  You are actually in very good company, right up there with other best-selling authors of whom Jane has been jealous for quite some time.

So, don’t sweat it, girl, and just keep on rockin’ with your awesome books!

Jane Spanks Ridley

Well, well.  The bullies are turning on each other again.  You all remember the GR Bully Meltdown, Part 2, when camp Cuddleboogery and camp Ridley (which included Jane Litte) went neck and neck.  Guess who it is this time!  That’s right!  Jane Litte and Ridley.

Jane published a post yesterday about her blog’s new commenting policy:

JanePost1

JanePost2

Sorry Jane, but I think you meant disrespectful.  Unrespectful isn’t a word.  Just thought you should know.

Anyhow, see where she says: “A distinct lack of respect”?  I almost choked on my Madrigal Barberis Petit Syrah when I read that.

A lack of respect, huh?  Ya think, Jane?  And you’re just now noticing this?

Well, better late than never, I suppose.

So… can you all guess who chimed in first?  That’s right!  Good ‘ol Ridley and boy did she get spanked:

JaneRidleyConvo

And for those thinking that this is an April Fool’s joke, it’s not:

Joke?

Now, why would Jane do this?  Some of our visitors think she has an ulterior motive and others think she’s finally learning how to grow up (not going to hold our breath on that one.)

And yet, there are still others *cough cough* who think it has something to do with us:

Iola

That’s right, Iola, you all are mentioned here on occasion and EVERYONE knows why.  And people believe us because we write the truth and we back that truth up with proof.  Ya’all might try doing that from time to time.  Ya know, providing proof for your claims.  It builds credibility, but then again, that’s something you’ll probably never have.

As for Jane, taming down the vitriol on her site is probably a good move for her and if she really is doing it for a good reason, then we wish her luck.  With that lot, she’s going to need it.

Bully Wank

Below is a post we published on December 14, 2012.  We’re re-pubbing it now because we want to show our readers just what we mean when we say that these bully authors, like Looney, Stacia K., Heidi B., etc., don’t actually practice what they preach, but instead always, always end up breaking their own code.  The post below shows Looney doing it again.

Also, if you check the comment thread on our Badly Behaving Goodreaders page, you’ll see that Jeremy D. (who signed the ridiculous No Sock Puppets Here, Please petition) has also fallen from grace.  No surprise there.  Just another sanctimonious hypocrite trying to join the bully crowd in order to curry favor.

**************************************************************************************

We’ve come up with a great new idea!  Every so often, when we receive screenshots of (or links to) GR bully wank from visitors, we’re going to do a blog post on them.  This is strictly for kicks.  Consider it our monthly bully wank reporting.  Today, we’ve got some good shots.  Next post we’ll be showing you some shots that one of our site visitors took when she caught the bullies in a lie.

Okay so… the first wanker of the month is none other than our favorite bully, Looney Tunes.  Here’s a shot we received from a visitor of Looney chewing out Dougie:

LooneyWank1

Such a sweetheart, isn’t she?

But wait!  There’s more!  We just recently received this comment from Anon:

If you’re interested, Somerloon is now complaining about a review for one of her own books on her blog. Wasn’t she the one who said authors shouldn’t ever address reviewers about a bad review? I think what she’s doing now could be called author behaving badly…at least in her own terms.

This exactly what Anon is talking about:

LooneyWank2

Here is she is referring to:

LadenesReview

Now, you all remember Looney’s ridiculous “”, right?

CodeOfHonour

You see that?  Number four:

4. Readers have the right to say what they want about your book because they’ve paid for it (either in time reading or in actual money)

So I guess that sanctimonious hypocrisy strike five!

So, Looney, did you forget your “” AGAIN?  Or is it just that readers have a right to say whatever they want about a book only when it’s not your book.  Ah, that was it.  Just checking.

Now, moving on… here we have a screencap, sent to us by a visitor, of Jane, and Cyndy going at it. Mreeeoow!  Pfft!  Pfft!:

JaneVsCyndy

Now, girls!  Can we all just get along?!

Apparently not.

Here we have infamous Ridley and her of It Had to Be You, by SEP:

RidleyWankReview

(Note: a wank review is not a bully review.  It’s important to know the difference.  A bully review is a review that attacks or libels the author.  A wank review is… well, we’ll show you.  Keep reading.)

Now, here is where Ridley and her friend, Christine, go at it:

RidleyWank1

RidleyWank2

RidleyWank3

RidleyWank4

What’s freaky about this is that Ridley seems to be proud of the way she behaves.  And people wonder why we have her under “Scary. Run. Fast.”

Now, none of this is new to you, we’re sure, but what is new is some of the messages we’ve been getting from readers (not authors), like us, who have been harassed by this crowd for – wait for it – writing reviews about books that they like!  The bullies are actually giving other readers a hard time about writing four and five-star reviews and not enough one and two-star reviews.  As if they had a right to tell them how to review!  And, to top it all off, then they have the audacity to say that other people do not have the right to criticize them about their reviewing methods or to tell them about how to write their reviews.  Un-freaking-believable!

One of our visitors, who is one of these harassed reviewers, says:

DontHaveTime

He’s right.  That is exactly what they do.  Like Jane and her ilk, they purposefully choose books they know they’ll hate just so they can bash them.  And then they write wank reviews like these (these are reviews from Heaven, be wary, the is infested with wankers):

RidleyWank1 WankReview1

WankReview3

WankReview4

So professional, aren’t they?  Now, are you starting to see why people consider GR to be the armpit of the reviewing community?  One of our visitors calls it a sewer and that’s an apt description.  It is because of the way these bullies behave and the culture they have established on GR that the information found there about books and authors is unreliable.  We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: it’s a TOXIC environment.
