If anyone hasn’t read Carroll’s post today, Goodreads or Good Pedophilia?, we recommend it. Now, we want to make something clear to our readers. In C.Y.A., we’ve shown that Goodreads claims to have banned all sexual roleplay groups from the site, but in our post, Is Goodreads Really Safe For Kids?, we showed you that these groups actually haven’t been banned at all, but were instead just made secret. Now, on Carroll’s post, he has shown you that many of these groups were, in fact, started by minors themselves. So what does this mean? It means that these groups, where kids are engaging in sexual role play with adults, still exist on the site, but instead of being out in the open where everyone can see, they are kept secret. They are kept hidden from the public eye.
Does this sound familiar? Doesn’t it sound exactly like what they did with bully reviews (i.e. reviews that review the author and not the book – posts on this to come)?
You see, they didn’t remove these kinds of reviews. They just hid them. And now they’re doing the same thing with sexual role play groups, it appears. Or are they? How can we know?

I think it might be a good idea to report this so we can know for sure what’s really going on. Here’s a website I found for reporting crimes against children. I just googled it.
I think they are removing the groups using some algorithm (which would indicate they had some logical approach to their method of madness) or search “phrase” which would indicate the group is erotic rpg. They have a new thread here talking about ‘disappearing’ groups:
In the thread you’ll notice that people are stating they’ve reported the erotic rpg groups in the past and Goodreads did nothing about it until now. I’ve said over and over, they just don’t care until it hits their bottom line, money. They moderate only when forced to. They have a very poor business model.
Thanks for sharing that! You’re right. They really don’t care until it hits their bottom line. Good call, MT.
Maybe we will never know what is going on. Are these groups being “hidden” or deleted? Perhaps the only people who might have a chance to find out is the FBI?
If it says it’s a secret group, that means it is hidden and won’t show up in feeds. And to gain entry to the group, you have to be invited/approved by a moderator.
Thank you for clarifying, Jenn.
