Okay, we’re back for part two of GR/Amazon Trolls Show Their True Colors. In Part One, we showed you how the trolls caught wind of a thread in the Mysteries & Crime Thriller group (where the group’s members were talking about the bullying on GR) and then jumped in to attack, thus getting blocked by the mods. The thread is , but unfortunately, now you can’t see it because the group mods had to privatize the group. Even if the group was public, most of the discussion was removed by GR staff anyway (more on this in our next post). On the plus side, however, we managed to get screenshots of the conversation (as much as we could) before GR stepped in and removed the comments (and they claim they don’t censor).
At this point, GR bully stepped in and insulted the intelligence of the group members and mods (we weren’t able to get a screenshot of her comment before it was removed and she was blocked by the mods). You will remember Derrolyn from the attack on L. Kirstein that was spearheaded by Wendy Darling. Derrolyn was quoted as saying, “The stoopid is strong with this one.” Her involvement in this attack is what earned her a spot on our Badly Behaving Goodreaders list.
On a side note, as you come to learn more about the GR bullies, you will notice that there are two types of bullies. On the one hand, you have your “lower class”, trashy, vulgar bullies like Angela Horn and CoaxialCreature/AllHailGrmilock. And then on the other, you have your “upper class” bullies with their noses in the air like Wendy and Derrolyn, who pretend that they are good, respectable people when in reality they are just as malicious as the “lower class” miscreants (upon whom they look down).
Anyhow, below you will see the MCT member’s response to Derrolyn, saying, “Thank you for showing yourself.”, (i.e. thank you for showing me that STGRB was correct in listing you as a bully):
Now, we will stop here to address the screenshot below where Treeman says that he suspects the whole affair with Lauren Pippa was a publicity stunt. The fact is that it wasn’t a publicity stunt. If Lauren had done it as a publicity stunt, she wouldn’t change the book’s title, cover, and then publish under a pseudonym, which is what she is doing now. She would publish the book as is.
So, that’s it! Those are all the screenshots we managed to get of the conversation before GR staff stepped in and not only deleted comments, but also deleted the accounts of several members and mods of the Book Club.
« Judyann’s Story Kobo Pulls the Plug on Goodreads Reviews »
When Lauren Pippa asked why her unpublished novel was getting one-star ratings, she was told that Goodreads users often use a one-star rating as a way of saying, not “I’ve actually read this book and thought it was awful,” but “I’ve read somebody else’s review or description of the book and have decided I’m not interested.”
I wonder how many readers are aware that lots of one-star ratings on a book could mean nothing more than that a bunch of people said “I’m not interested in this book”?
The bullies also claim that their horrible book shelves and one star ratings “reminds” them of what authors and books they don’t want to read. Instead of rating them fake one stars, and or placing them in a shelf titled “author is an ass” or whatever, why not just create a shelf that simply reads “not interested” or “one star rating of books I’M not interested in and never read”?
Sounds simple enough.
The truth is, their ratings and book shelves are NOT designed to remind them of shit, but rather, to “attack” that author.
I agree Carroll, if you are not interested in a book why shelf it to begin with? The bullies claim it’s to remind them not to buy the book. And why would you need to be reminded?
I have information that the banned Angela Horn is now hiding and trolling under the profile “ETA: soon”:
This is much worse than I imagined. I don’t understand why Patrick would allow his staff to walk all over him and destroy not only Goodreads’ reputation but his own.
From this incident, it’s obvious that the bullies control the Goodreads coop. No other explanation.
Patrick, please take action before it’s too late. If only for yourself. You’re the only one who can.
The entire site of GR just gets shabbier looking every day.
That looks like an infringement of the people they deleted off civil rights to freedom of speech. What does the TOS say about the groups? How is it that any other group can delete members and this one can’t?
