Below is a list of our current Badly Behaving Goodreaders and links to their GR profiles. It was created to warn and protect those who are non-bullies. We recommend avoiding the people listed below, if not blocking them. To block a member on Goodreads, go to the member’s profile that you wish to block and scroll down to the bottom of the page. GR members earn their places on our list either by participating in an organized attack on an author (or another reader/reviewer), by deliberately and maliciously trying to ruin someone’s career, by leaving a bully review, by carpet-bombing, and/or by leaving derogatory shelving against an author on an author’s book.

I would like to add Karina H. I was called a troll among other things for not liking one of her books or her pushing another back. Her fans also attacked me. I was called names and emailed terrible things.
We’ll keep an eye on her and if she gives us any reason to add her, we will.
Out of curiosity, why is Stacia Kane on this list? I’ve never noticed her behaving badly on any forum, though there are a few others on AWWC who think they’re God’s Gift to the Human Race.
She was involved in a bully attack on an author over a year ago, before we started our blog. The author who was the victim sent us some screenshots, so we added Stacia to the list. We’ve also kept an eye on her and noticed that she is pretty much your typical bully kiss-ass who’s quick to attack another author to make herself look good in their eyes. She does this to sell and promote her books. We have very little respect for her.
Thank you for your in-depth explanation. Also, I’ve read further on this blog (and on GR as well) and realized
before even reading your response, that indeed, Stacia deserves to be on this list.
Sad, since she’s a top author and a lot of people look up to her. :/
AnotherWriter, we’ve never published the screenshots sent to us because the author who was victimized asked us not to. She didn’t want any more negative attention brought to her and we can understand that. If we’d published it, Stacia would have rallied her friends in a fresh wave of attacks on this author. The bullies do this all the time, but I think we don’t really need to keep telling people this. I think our readers have seen enough on our blog to know what they do.
I understand, and I don’t blame the other writer one bit. The victim was right in that Stacia
would likely use her huge following/popularity to crap all over the victimized author.
Again it’s just sad. And I’ve definitely seen for myself Kane’s attitude about other authors.
She acts like she hates other authors… or that is my impression.
Oh, Stacia is known around the web as being quite a nasty troll when it suits her. She loves jumping into the fray whenever there’s a war going on, stirring the pot, then jumping out again. She’s one of those people who love causing trouble, which is the reason trouble always finds her. Avoid her at all costs. I’ve had my eye on her for years, and she’s bad news. She has a negative reputation for a reason.
Yeah, I finally realized that when I read further on this blog and on GR. Her attitude
toward other authors is atrocious IMO.
Before this the only place I’d seen her was on AWWC, and a few times she acted
like she was better than some of the others on there… then again, she’s
certainly not the only one on AWWC to behave like that.
God’s Gift to the Human Race? You got that right! Uncle Jim anyone?
*snort*
You mean Uncle Jimmy Boy? That reminds me, we need to re-pub the post we did on AW.
Hahahaha, yes him! Right on the nose! lolololol!
Uncle Jim indeed… Psssshhh. Can’t stand the guy.
I’m just glad that FINALLY, finally I found some people who agree with me. I’ve had
these exact thoughts about GR and AWWC for years now.
Glad to know I’m not the only one. Only sad it took this long to find a supportive
site. I wish you guys had been around longer.
Stacia is a bully-instigator. She also propagates the bully mentality by validating the bully views, even if she doesn’t have the whole story. I think she does this to try to get more book sales and get more popular with goodreads reviewers. She’s a bit of a snake to put it nicely.
I read once on her blog where she was bashing authors for saying some of the negative reviews might be fake, and then in the same post she said that she expects to get negative reviews from troll for saying that. So when she gets negative reviews, they are troll reviews. But when other authors get negative reviews, they are legit and the authors are being big babies about it.
She’s a hypocrite and in my eyes the real definition of a badly behaving author as she tears others down unjustly for the purpose of self-inflation.
Yes, this is exactly how she is. Well said, Peter. I concur with both you and Johnny on this.
Yeah, now that I’ve researched a little more, I understand the reason why she’s listed on here.
I agree with your assessment of her too, word for word. She really does seem to validate
bullies’ viewpoints, and yes it seems like she does this just to get more book sales.
Basically getting on the readers’ good sides, which of course is going to work. That’s a
no-brainer and could be the reason why she’s so popular on Goodreads.
Maybe it’s the only reason she’s so popular on there? I’ve read her book descriptions before
(think it was the Ghost series) and it just sounded ‘meh’. Nothing really special or too
interesting to me, IMO. *shrug*
Also agree, it sounds like she’s a snake. Seems mean, but wow, I couldn’t believe what she
posted on GR about readers ‘having the right to say whatever they want about authors’ books’. The way she said it made her sound bitter and very angry, and I wouldn’t have any
idea why she would be that way. It’s puzzling to me.
Uh, you’re kidding? She actually posted that on her blog?! So Kane’s also a hypocrite. Wow, what a nice personality combo! Not only is she sneaky and insidious, she’s a hypocrite.
Well, she struck me as being a huge ‘baby’ when she posted her rant about authors and reviews. She’s no more mature than a lot of other authors, is she? Especially considering
she only pretends to kiss readers’ asses so she can sell more books (again, it works). She
knows that being snarky to a snarky reviewer backfires terribly, so she merely does
the opposite. She’s not as smart as she thinks she is…
What gets me is that she’s listed on GR’s BBA listopia, and readers/fans hate that she’s
on that list. HOWEVER, when it’s a SPA on the list who doesn’t do anything to deserve it,
then the readers bash the SPA and agree that he/she deserves to be on the list. But oh no,
not a traditionally published author like Kane.
Ugh.
Did y’all hear about Jeremy Duns? One of the signers of the pledge against sock puppets has now fallen into disgrace. Guess why.
Not surprising. Sanctimonious hypocrisy strikes again!
Where did you see this, btw?
In a GR group devoted to promoting ass-kissers.
Amazon and GR are going to have to address the ever growing problem of sock-puppets, trolls and bullies on their sites. The whole thing is getting out of hand!
Goronwy posted a comment saying > > “Did y’all hear about Jeremy Duns? One of the signers of the pledge against sock puppets has now fallen into disgrace. Guess why.” < <
So I googled it to see what happened. It seems that not only was Duns giving his own books glowing five star reviews, he was also targeting other authors and leaving nasty one star reviews on their books. An author giving him/her self glowing five star reviews is very misleading to readers. But attacking other authors and leaving one star reviews on their books is damn right vicious! That is such vindictive behavior!
The reviewing system on Amazon and GR is all wrong, they are going to have to come up with a solution to the problem. It must be very upsetting for any author who has been targeted and attacked by a sock puppet/troll/bully. I am not an author, but I work hard at my job. I am very lucky to have a job that I love! Imagine if there was a system on the Internet where people could rate how well I do or don't do my job! Imagine if random people were allowed to say anything about how I do my job! eek!
I understand that my job and a book are two entirely different things. But we are all human and we all have feelings. I always keep this in mind when I write a book review. If there is something about a book that I don't like, then I will try my very best to point out the problem in a constructive and polite way. I would never deliberately hurt anyone’s feelings either on the internet or off the internet.
I only review books that I like. If I've read a good book I want to tell everyone about it! Most ebooks are as cheap chips! There are countless free ebooks and many more for only a dollar or two. Before ebooks, I always read a book to the end even if the book was rubbish. Now with ebook's being so cheap (or free) if it hasn't caught my interest by 30 to 40% than I stop reading it. I don't review these books because I didn't finish them.
I have lost count of the amount of times that I have seen trolls winging and whining about books that they hate, when people point out to them that the book was free, the trolls whine even more & say that their time is precious, they moan about the time they wasted while reading the book they hated. They really are drama llamas!!! But no one ever asked them to read the book in the first place! It is their choice what they read! The truth of the matter is that the trolls purposely look for books that they don't like just so they can write a nasty one star review and attack the author. They take enjoyment out of hurting people. I can't understand why people want to be so cruel?
Amazon and GR are going to have to clean up this whole mess! The two sites are really getting a bad reputation. I loved Amazon and GR when I first started using them. But now both sites are filled with bullying and hate. It makes very uncomfortable and upsetting reading…..
“It seems that not only was Duns giving his own books glowing five star reviews, he was also targeting other authors and leaving nasty one star reviews on their books. An author giving him/her self glowing five star reviews is very misleading to readers. But attacking other authors and leaving one star reviews on their books is damn right vicious! That is such vindictive behavior!”
This is just like Looney and all the other sanctimonious hypocrites who preach all this garbage that they never follow, but instead end up breaking over and over. As Peter said, they are the truly badly behaving authors.
“Imagine if there was a system on the Internet where people could rate how well I do or don’t do my job! Imagine if random people were allowed to say anything about how I do my job! eek!”
Precisely. People who have no idea what your job is or even how well you do it. This is the equivalent of someone writing a review without having read the book, which happens all the time on GR and Amazon.
“I understand that my job and a book are two entirely different things.”
No, they’re not. Writing books IS an author’s job. Could you ever imagine being harassed and bullied by your employers the way authors are by these people? Even if your employer reprimands you for something, there is always a grievance policy in which the employee can share his/her side of the story and be heard. No such thing exists for these authors, it seems.
Ouphs! I posted my comment in the wrong place. I meant to post it under Goronwy link in the comment section of “Amazon Reviews As Attack Weapons.” That is why my comment looks out of place, sorry!
Posting this under a name not my own, since I’ve got enough targets painted on me of late, it seems… but I found this site via a GR Friend, and have spent 5 hours alternating between fuming and laughing uproariously. I know well the pain of getting hit with the BBA-stick for inane or unknown infractions, and seeing that not only am I not alone, but have a place to see everyone else’s laments gives me hope.
In particular, I have been much relieved after double checking the negative ratings/shelvings on my work against this list, and seeing all but one are either your targets or their puppets. (And the one is forgivable; just wasn’t her thing, and I accept that. She also didn’t say/do anything rude about it, which is also a plus.) So, thanks for making my day, and keep going!
You’re welcome! That’s why we’re here.
Can’t forget Derrick
He recently led an attack on not only an author, but a reviewer who tried to stand up for the author of her own accord. He deleted any comments he made to the reviewer directly to make himself look better, but he called her some awful names, then called in his friends to attack the author who was standing up for his fan and friend in return.
Just wondering…if I block these trolls/bullies won’t that just incite them? In other words won’t they know they’ve been blocked and therefore hunt you down as it were?
On their end, it will only appear as though you’ve privatized your account.
So they won’t then go after you on Amazon or something? I guess I figure I should be pro-active – rather than wait for one to attack, just block them outright…yes?
Well, there is no way to block the trolls on Amazon… yet. But you can block them on GR. We recommend just blocking them and staying far away. Don’t engage with them at all and you should be okay.
Thanks for the heads up!
You’re welcome!
I love goodreads and I am appalled people like this are on the site. They should be banned from it. They are ruining it for the people who are on there to generally discuss and find new books. I write reviews on my blog and in my review policy I state that I will never trash a book or an author because to me that is so unprofessional. After looking all over this site and reading all the evidence gathered I have to say that I got very angry that these people are still allowed to to bully people.
I am surprised and disgusted that some of these bully are AUTHORS themselves! With a few books to their name! That is so abbhorent and these people need to think about how they would feel if it happened to them. The rest of these people are just losers with no life and they probably hate their lives so they try to ruin others.
I have to say after checking these people out, I’m glad I blocked them and they are vicious people. One of the worst is XOX, who was on a group I joined, and have since left. Her comments were vicious and lets face it stupid. Finally I had enough and told her off. That was in March in a thread on the group and has not been answered yet. The group is Books I loathed, which I joined out of curiosity and you will see that all of my comments are positive with me saying I love the authors people hated on.
Keep up the good work!

Link to thread with my comment (I’m the very last comment)~
If you have a blog, prepare to get spammed from here to next week.
I wouldn’t worry about it. After seeing XOX’s comments, I don’t think she can read.
More of Xox’s comments. She hates the Catholic church and has no qualms about ripping them apart freely and does not care that she is offending people
sorry here’s the link:
I have just also found that XOX joined a Christian Jesus group to bad mouth the catholic religion.
Group: I live for Jesus and Jesus alone!!~
XOX’s Comment on that group:
I love the way she’s so f*cking pissed off that she f*cking rejoined the f*cking evil piece of sh*t Catholic church. F*ck. All those f bombs just testify to the sincerity of her feelings about the subject.
And to think that these are the same people who attacked Kendall Grey because she swore all over the place. Of course when an author does it, it’s just, you know, rude.
You should add Laurel J. She is very nasty and especially vicious in the her reviews of Hush Hush and Halo
Hello. May I ask why Litchick has been added on this list? Thanks.
Read the top of the page:
GR members earn their places on our list either by participating in an organized attack on an author (or another reader/reviewer), by deliberately and maliciously trying to ruin someone’s career, by leaving a bully review, and/or by leaving derogatory shelving against an author on an author’s book.
I know how to read… I was asking what she had done to earn this EXACTLY, because I’m following her reviews and I want to see for myself. But if you don’t know, sorry to have bothered you.
Can you give me a specific example of what she did? I was just made aware of this list and now I’m worried I’m going to end up on it, just for giving my opinion of a book that I might not like? I’ve never participated in attacking an author with a group of people but my reviews might not always be super sweet (especially if one of the main characters got on my nerves :))
Read above. She participated in an attack on another GR member. You won’t get put on the list for a review of a book, as long as you don’t personally attack the author. So no worries.
I’m curious as to why Shiloh Walker is on here. I met her once and she certainly wasn’t a “warm” personality to me, but can see no reason for bullying on her GR page.
As I said to Anonymous, read above. She participated in an attack on another GR member.
I’m a Goodreads author, and I’ve been targeted by at least three of the charming specimens on this list – Miranda, Shelly and JennyJen.
Miranda and Shelly are just awful human beings. I don’t know why they feel they’re entitled to make people’s lives miserable, but they sure seem to take a perverse pleasure in it. I used to be a staunch supporter of the anti-bullying movement, but now I’m just too worn down to try anymore.
I’ve also been targeted by these two, now:
Ennui –
Alethea –
Both of them are guilty of malicious shelving AND bully reviewing. Not nearly as badly as Miranda, though. Miranda’s a real piece of work.
Alethea’s rated every book 1 star, 258 books.
Yup! She’s a right piece of work. I’m the same poster as TooNervous above, but I’ve gone from nervous to hopping mad since I found out the fecking administrators are involved in this. Rrrrr.
Anyway, Alethea. Yep. And if anyone believes that she’s honestly reviewing the books, not trying to make the author upset, then consider this: She, Miranda, and Ennui have placed 1-star reviews on all seven of my novels, including three which are still in the editing phase and haven’t been seen by anyone except my editor, and two which HAVEN’T EVEN BEEN WRITTEN YET.
Yup, that’s what the carpet bombers do. But, they’re playing right into our hands. Bwahahahahha!
They are? Goodreads hasn’t done anything about it despite numerous reportings.
Just wait. We have plans.
Okay, now I’m equal parts curious and scared. >_>
I am kind of nervous that so many people who added me in the last 3 months since I joined GR are on this list-sort of grateful none had read my book yet!
If it makes you feel better, I’ve had dealings with a couple of people on this list (Bitchie and John) that were perfectly reasonable. Some of them may have either learned from their early mistakes, or changed their ways. The ones I can say from personal experience are actively vindictive are Miranda, Shelly, Alethea, JennyJen, and Ennui. Be careful of going anywhere near those ones!
Okay, I actually need to update this reply, but I can’t modify the post. I’ve had dealings with ONE of those people that were perfectly reasonable – just Bitchie. John… I’ve changed my opinions on.
We’ve got another one – A new Amanda, who knows if it’s the same one listed above.
It’s probably a sock puppet account, because she has 270 1-star ratings and no real information.
In other news, this is really annoying. I now have 6 1-star ratings from these damn trolls, which makes up 25% of my total.
I’ve racked up the same number. Two have been given the GR boot, one has withdrawn her extensive 1-star list (undoubtedly under threat from GR); but three remain untouched, despite their well-known, reputations for abuse. I’m puzzled by GR — boot out some, leave others alone. This is why we need to keep the pressure on.
At least you’ve seen some change. I’m up to eight, and Goodreads has done NOTHING. They sent me an email like a week ago saying that they’d received an email from Nadir and were “investigating”. Since then? Absolutely nothing.
Another one: “(All Hail) Grimlock.” This troll just left bunch of 1-stars, is active on Booklikes and has left some anti-STGRB remarks.
Ugh, yeah, that person is a dick. She’s already up there under “Coaxial”, another of her monickers. I think she’s one of the worst.
I’ve reported her, but Selene is definitely a carpet bomber (). She routinely goes through and rates all books by a given author as 1 star on the same day.
I think this may be a sock-puppet GR identity intended to ruin an author’s ratings. This is the only book this person has reviewed and the book isn’t even released. Also, it went from 2 stars to 1 star. This person gave an excuse that it was a mistake, but why go from 2 stars to 1 star while claiming to correct the error?
Andrea Smith has already been targeted in the past. When they have an author in their crosshairs, they never let up.
I also wonder how it is that Miranda always shows up on the scene of an attack even when she’s not the initiator. It’s uncanny.
Miranda thanked for helping point out how errors are made in ratings and the GR reviewer changed rating. It was probably just an error and the reviewer changed the rating to higher stars because they didn’t understand Miranda’s instructions on how to delete it. It just looked suspicious when viewed from someone aware of sock-puppets.
Reading Miranda’s comments makes me shake with rage. She’s the very one who LED the attack on me. It’s exactly people like HER that make people so wary of sock puppet accounts to begin with! How DARE she act like she’s so innocent!
People like her make me hate humankind. -_-
Just wanted to drop by and report such good news! Over at BBA Amazon the trollies are getting frustrated and angry lately. Seems Amazon is deleting them quite a bit, watching their behavior closer now….THANK YOU STGRB!!!!….yeah, these trollies are DONE, they got eyeballs on them now. I’ve been watching the BBA thread as it dies out and the trollies go insane because they can’t ‘power up’ like they used to…PROGRESS my friends, progress.
DELICIOUS. Thank you again STGRB for your hard work!!
P.S….they are not happy with their new homes at BookLikes either, they have no power there. These freaks are all into their power of bullying, big time. Take away their power with other trollies and they are sad sacks with nothing to say.
Amazon is now deleting many comments by trolls. Over at BBA thread on Amazon, they are all losing their minds right now because they are being deleted by Amazon.
Yes, I do believe their glorious days of destruction are waning, and they are on their way to live within the unknown caves of Booklikes…lol
Hey, maybe they’ll go POOF like the wicked witch.
It’s mostly Ms Mayhem, who got deleted for posting comments on this review:
Ms Mayhem is one of those who said she was going to stop reviewing, but I see she’s started up again.
Now I’m actually being entertained by the trolls over at BBA Amazon. They have become paranoid, delusional and completely depressed.
Some think they are on a watch list by Amazon, hey, that’s probably true after all that’s gone down and all the valid PROOF that STGRB has provided.
Some think that now the entire book review world has ended because they are no longer allowed to CARPET BOMB innocent authors, and some think that they should file a lawsuit because their opinions are no longer relevant….LMAO
Please, this is amusing, and downright funny. I am certain that Amazon has had it up to their eyeballs with these pests, or bugs or whatever you want to call them…I am sure of that.
We’ve been watching it, too. It’s hilarious!
A “Goodreads Librarian” by the name of Kace has started a vendetta against Indie authors, going around and marking their books with 1 star ratings. So far she/he has done this to 184 books, often nailing dozens in a day. Most recently Feb 2, 2014.
I just noticed that Shelby is listed on your “Badly behaving Goodreaders” page. Go Figure!
UPDATE:
GOODREADS has decided to do nothing about me being carpet bombed.
Go Figure!
At this point, we feel that the only thing that will force Goodreads to do something about the blatant carpet bombing on their site is a major lawsuit. This post might help you understand how GR is breaking the law: https://stopthegrbullies.com/2013/09/07/goodreads-review-fraud/
GR is leaving themselves open for litigation by not following their own rules in regards to ‘carpet bombing’. In my case, the carpet bomber could not possibly have read my book: the only copies sold went to ME. GR didn’t care.
Now GoodReads has blocked ME!
Thank you, STGRB, for taking the time to update this list and the others.
I am fairly new to Goodreads, I joined earlier this year. Goodreads suggested me to follow probably half of the people listed above. It shows them as being the “TOP USERS”. I don’t trust these assholes a bit. I tried out some of their book suggestions that were absolutely horrible and disgustingly pornographic. (If you read those types of books I mean no offense to you, but I had NO idea about some that I picked up). I do a thorough check on shelves now. =)
When I found a book I was interested in the other day, I saw them (the assholes) leaving reviews that were personal. One said that she was downgrading a book to a 1 star bc of something an author said on Twitter. Who gives a crap? I don’t give a crap. I just want to find good books with legitimate reviews not skewed up by those idiots.
Why is Goodreads listing these people on top so that all of us innocent users will follow them? I saw them ganging up on someone recently (not an author) but a normal user because she stood up for someone or something they didn’t like.
Anyway, I stopped following all of these people and started flagging their stupid reviews that are personal.
****Now they aren’t downright leaving personal reviews but they are saying reason for 1 star or for (WILL NOT READ) shelf is in the comments. They think they can get away with bashing the author in the comment section now.

I just wanted to vent. I hope that I can find some REAL people to follow soon that aren’t assholes. Sorry for saying that word over and over but that is the only way I can accurately describe them. We need to clean up Goodreads and get these people gone or at least get them to follow the rules.
I wasn’t even “active” on GR for a full month and a half when I got tagged by Linda. And it was just so left field that I wondered…why? Why expend the energy on little ole me? I’m nothing. She’s got books (plural) out, I barely have one. It’s sad. Very sad. More so sad that GR allows it when it’s supposed to be about the reader. Amazon ..meh..there’s all kinds of idiots on there. I don’t really pay *that* much attention when I can read the samples myself and judge. If they spent the time and energy into their own lives and works, or being positive mentors, there’s no telling what they could accomplish. It was almost flattering, though
I’m an author and have my book listed on Goodreads. I learned quickly to stop checking reviews there. I write romantic comedies and had a reviewer give me a 2 star review then proceed to take out of context and misquote my work to give examples of my immaturity. I could have gotten over that but after her review posted a group of her friends jumped on the thread to thank her for helping them dodge a bullet. She also recommended for others who bought my book to return it. I went from 2 months of awesome sales and great reviews, even 3 stars that said they enjoyed it but the sex was too steamy, to that review being the first thing you see when you look up my work. My sales dropped dramatically after. I’m an indie author trying to help support my family and assholes like that should be ashamed of their behavior.
I used to read the reviews of a book to see if I should read it, but looking at how many people are on this list that do stupid stuff and troll, I’m just going to read it if it seems interesting to me.
I took the time to look up some of these “authors”. Most of them have low reviews on thier own stories (whether retaliatory or truly deserved, though, who knows), so probably insecurity and jealousy is at play.
I would add Sophia Olson to the list. She leaves revenge reviews and scathing remarks on books as well as editing services the second she and the author/editor have a falling out.
