Well, it looks as if YA Bound Book Tours has removed Moonlight Library from one of their book tours after she . Instead of reading he entire book thoroughly and coming to an educated conclusion, she gives up after reading 13% of it:
So… what does she do? She whines about it on our BookLikes blog, crying about how unfairly she was treated and wondering why she was removed:
That’s right! She cares so little about it, she wrote an entire blog post whining about how she got dissed.
Now, we’ve heard of this happening before — mainly, blog tour hosts not being able to finish a book and instead, doing a promo for the book’s tour. And this is fine. If you act like a professional, you probably won’t get removed from the tour.
But… if you act like an asshole, which most of the bullies do, then yes, your butt is gonna get booted from the tour, so we recommend you just suck it up and move on.
It is not, however, coincidental that this would happen in light of all the recent media attention that has been brought to the bullies and their author-bullying activities. Thanks to our wide circle of blog readers and superstar authors like Anne Rice, the word about bad book bloggers and bullies is spreading rapidly. Blog tour companies are being warned and authors are learning what they need to do to protect themselves from trolls. In our upcoming blog posts this week, we’ll show you just how quickly the news is spreading.
Gosh, don’t you guys get it? WRITERS can’t reply. Reviewers (especially ones whose writing, under other names, is ALWAYS criticized for good reasons) can say whatever they want about good writers! They can diss them left, right and center — WRITERS can’t reply! Yeesh! It’s so simple.
I know, right!
What gets me about her review is that she gets 13% into the book and makes an ultimate decision on it. When you are part of a blog tour, you agree to review the entire book before you write your review. A DNF and a snarky review is fine for GR, but for a blog tour it is inappropriate.
Hmmm, I’m not sure if they should’ve banned her for writing a bad review, even if it was snarky. I’m torn about this.
I read the comment above, and it does seem 13% is too short to decide a book is crap.
But there weren’t personal attacks, either.
No, you’re right. There were no personal attacks and that would definitely warrant removal from a book tour. But a book tour is also organized and controlled by the blog tour company and if they have a reason for removing a tour host, they have a right to do it. That tour host also has the right to publish their review on their blog regardless of being on the tour or not.
The way we see it is that they have a right to remove her from the tour if they want. It’s their tour. We agree with Who Me, there is a certain amount of professionalism required on both sides.
